| dc.description.abstract | With pleasure, I confirm that Canser Bilir has been engaged with us as a visiting research scholar for the 2018-2019 academic year. In this project, he has served as co-principal investigator in development of a discrete-event simulation model for strategic decision support at a major U.S. hub of the world’s largest airline. Built in Arena 14.7, the model is a process-oriented simulation with a geo-spatial dimension. Statistical models constructed from time-stamped microdata infuse systematic variation in simulation parameters and allow us to produce simulated performance that realistically depicts the stochastic behavior of this complex transportation system. This research thrust has received partial support for several years from the United States Department of Transportation under its University Transportation Centers program (grant number DTRT13-G-UTC37). | en_US |
