Ortaokul öğrencilerinde ebeveyn başarı baskısı ve desteğinin okul motivasyonuna etkisinin incelenmesi

Abstract

Araştırmanın amacı, ortaokul öğrencilerinde ebeveyn akademik başarı baskısı ve desteğinin okul motivasyonuna etkisini incelemektir. Değişkenler arasındaki ilişki nicel araştırma modeliyle ilişkisel tarama yöntemi kullanılarak incelenmiştir. Araştırma evrenini İstanbul ili Küçükçekmece ilçesindeki ortaokullarda eğitim-öğretim gören 46.243 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada kullanılan ölçekler uygun örneklem yöntemi ile 681 öğrenciye uygulanmıştır. Verilere Kişisel Bilgi Formu, Ebeveyn Akademik Başarı Baskısı ve Desteği Ölçeği (EABBDÖ) ile Okul Motivasyonu Ölçeği (OMÖ) ile ulaşılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde parametrik testler uygulanmış korelasyon analizi ve çoklu regresyon analizleri yapılmıştır. Toplanan verilere göre; öğrencilerce algılanan başarı baskısı puanı düşük, başarı desteği puanı yüksek düzeyde bulunmuştur. Öğrencilerce algılanan okul motivasyonu toplam puanı yüksek düzeyde, okul motivasyonu alt boyutlarında "performans" ve "okula bağlılık" yüksek düzeyde, "hedef" çok yüksek düzeyde bulunmuştur. Anne-baba başarı baskısı ve desteği ile okul motivasyonu arasında tüm alt boyutlarda korelasyon tespit edilmiştir. Ebeveyn akademik başarı baskısı okul motivasyonu hedef, performans, okula bağlılık alt boyutlarını ve toplam okul motivasyonunu düşük düzeyde negatif; ebeveyn akademik başarı desteği ise okul motivasyonu hedef, performans, okula bağlılık alt boyutlarını ve toplam okul motivasyonunu orta düzeyde pozitif yordamaktadır. Araştırma sonunda ebeveyn akademik başarı baskısı ve desteğinin okul motivasyonunu önemli derecede yordadığı tespit edilmiştir.

In this study, the effect of parental success pressure and support on the motivation of secondary school students was examined. The relational screening method, among the quantitative research models, was used in the study. The research population consists of 46,243 students studying in secondary schools in Kucukcekmece, Istanbul. Scales were applied to 681 students with the appropriate sampling method. To obtain the data, the Personal Information Form developed by the researcher, the Parental Academic Achievement Pressure and Support Scale, and the School Motivation Scale were used. For analysis, parametric tests are used and correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis were performed. According to the data obtained, the parental academic success pressure perceived by the students was low, and the parental academic success support score was found to be high. The total score of school motivation perceived by the students was found to be high, 'performance' and 'school commitment' in the sub-dimensions of school motivation were found to be high, and 'goal' was found to be very high. A correlation was found between parental academic success pressure and support and school motivation in all sub-dimensions. Parental academic success pressure negatively affects school motivation goal, performance, school engagement sub-dimensions and total school motivation at low levels; Parental academic support predicts school motivation goal, performance, school engagement sub-dimensions and total school motivation positively at a moderate level. As a result of the research, it was concluded that parental academic success pressure and support had a significant predictive effect on school motivation.
