Öğretmen annelerin meslek içinde karşılaştığı sorunlar ve başa çıkma yollarına ilişkin görüşler

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı öğretmen annelerin meslek içinde karşılaştığı sorunları ve başa çıkma yollarına ilişkin görüşleri incelemektir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu, 2019 yılında İstanbul’da yaşayan çalışan ve 0-6 yaş aralığında çocuğu olan 20 kadın öğretmenden oluşmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak görüşme ve yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Görüşmeler katılımcıların okullarında uygun olan ortamlarda ve zamanlarda araştırmacı tarafından yüz yüze yapılmıştır. Katılımcılardan izin alınmak suretiyle ses kaydına alınıp yazıya aktarılmıştır, sonrasında ait oldukları kişilere gönderilerek ekleme-çıkarma yapmalarına izin verilmiştir. Katılımcılar belli bir sistematikte kodlanmıştır. Her bir katılımcının ses kaydı dinlenerek yazılı metne dönüştürülmüş ve daha sonra bu metinler kullanılarak kodlar oluşturulmuştur. Sorulara verilen cevaplar içerik analiziyle çözümlenmiştir. Buna göre 10 ana tema belirlenmiştir. Bunlar: “Öğretmenlik Mesleğini Seçme Nedenleri”, “Öğretmenlik Mesleğine İlişkin Cinsiyet Algısı”, “Kadın Öğretmenlerin Öğretmenlikteki Zorlukları”, “Mesleğin Aileye Etkisi”, “Doğum İzni”, “Doğum Sonrası Çalışma”, “Okuldan Memnuniyet Durumu”, “Mesleki Sorunlar”, “İdareci Olarak Sorunların Çözümü”, “Bakan Olarak Sorunların Çözümü” şeklindedir. Katılımcılar, meslek içinde çeşitli zorluklarla karşılaştıklarını, bu zorluklardan bazılarının mesleğe özgü olduğunu bazılarının ise cinsiyete dayalı zorluklar olduğunu söyleyerek, öğretmenlik mesleğinin ev hanımlığının ve anneliğin bir uzantısı olarak kabulünden dolayı, kadınlara daha uygun olarak görüldüğü fakat bu algının da kendileri üzerinde daha fazla stres oluşturduğunu ifade etmişlerdir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre, doğum izninin yetersizliği, annelerin bebeklerinden erken ayrılmak zorunda kalmalarının ve bebeğini emanet edebileceği ailesinden birinin olmaması durumunda işe başlamak zorunda kalan öğretmen annelerin işe rahatlıkla konsantre olamadıkları tespit edilmiştir.

The aim of this study is to determine the problems of teacher mothers in the professional life, who have children in the age of 0-6 and in the age of gaining the basic life skills and is to analyze reflections of the professional problems to the family life. Individual and organizational solution proposals for dealing with the identified problems are presented at the end of the study. The sampling of the study consisted of 20 female teachers living in Istanbul in 2019 and children aged 0-6. Semi-structured interview form was used as data collection tool. Interviews were conducted face-to-face by the researcher in appropriate environments and times in the schools of the participants. Interviews were taken to the audio record after being authorized by the participants and then sent to the persons they belong to. Participants were coded in a specific system. The voice records of each participant was transformed to written text, and then codes were generated using these texts. The answers to the questions were analyzed by content analysis. In this context, 10 main themes have been identified. These are: Reasons for Choosing Teaching Profession”, “Gender Perception of Teaching Profession” “Difficulties of Female Teachers in Job”, Impact of the Profession on Family” “Maternity Leave”, “Working in Postpartum Period”, “Satisfaction Status of School”, “Professional Problems”, “Solution of Problems as an Administrator”, “Solution of Problems as Minister”. Participants stated that they encountered various difficulties within the profession, some of them were occupational difficulties, some of them were gender-based difficulties and they stated that general acceptance that implies teaching profession is an extension to being a mother of housewife causes more stress on teacher mothers. It is seen that the mothers who had to start to work in case of insufficient maternity leave, mothers having to leave early from their babies and one of the family to entrust their baby could not concentrate easily on the job.
