Multiple skleroz tanısı alan bireylerin sosyal destek mekanizmaları ile psikiyatrik semptomlarının incelenmesi

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Multiple Skleroz (MS) tanısı alan bireylerin sosyal destek mekanizmaları ile bireylerin hastalığından dolayı yaşadığı psikolojik sorunlar, hastalıkla birlikte meydana gelen psikiyatrik semptomların incelenmesi olup; tanımlayıcı çalışma olarak planlanmıştır. Nicel bir araştırma olan çalışmada, amaçsal örnekleme ile belirlenmiş 410 MS tanısı alan bireye ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak, demografik bilgi formu ile sosyal desteği incelemek için Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği, psikiyatrik semptomları incelemek içinse, Psikolojik Belirti Tarama Listesi (SCL-90-R) kullanılmıştır. Bu çalışmada, MS tanısı alan bireylerin sosyal destek mekanizmaları ve psikiyatrik semptomları bazı değişkenlere göre incelenmiş olup; araştırma bulgularına göre; araştırmaya katılan hastaların, %77.1'i kadın, %37.8'i 30 yaş ve altında, %60.7'si evli, %58.5'i üniversite mezunu, %46.3'ü 1-5 yıldır MS hastası, %78.0'i atak ve iyileşmelerle giden MS (RRMS) tipi olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Çok boyutlu algılanan sosyal destek ölçeğinde; MS'den dolayı psikolojik sorun yaşamamış olanların, sosyal desteğinin daha yüksek olduğu; eğitim durumu arttıkça sosyal desteğin de arttığı; hastalığa uyum sağlayanların daha fazla sosyal destek aldığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan MS hastalarının, Psikolojik Belirti Tarama Listesi, Genel Semptom Düzeyine göre psikopatolojik durumu olan bireylerin oranı %60.7'dir. Algılanan Sosyal Destek ile Genel Semptom düzeyi arasında negatif yönlü orta bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Araştırma bulgularının tıbbi sosyal hizmet literatürüne katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmüştür.

As a descriptive study, the purpose of this study is to investigate the social support of individuals who are diagnosed with MS, experienced with psychological problems, and psychiatric symptoms that is resulted from the disease. In the study, which is a quantitative research, 410 patients diagnosed with MS were reached, determined by purposive sampling. As data collection tools, demographic information form, Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale in order to examine social support and the Psychological Symptom Checklist (SCL-90-R) to analysis for the psychiatric symptoms are used. According to research findings, the demographic information of the individuals with MS who need social support and psychiatric symptoms are ranges of some variables. 77.1% participants were women and 37.8% of them were 30 years and under. Besides, 60.7% of them were married, 58.5% of university graduates. Also, 46.3% of participants were vary 1-5 years old and 78.0% of participants had MS (RRMS) type which went with relapsing remitting. The results of the multidimensional scale of social support scale, individuals who have not experienced psychological problems due to MS have higher social support. Also, results show if the individuals with MS who are more educated and well-adapted, the more social support. The rate of individuals with psychopathological conditions resulted from the Psychological Symptom Checklist is 60.7%. In terms of the results of study, the rate of MS patients with psychopathological conditions according to the Psychological Symptom Checklist and General Symptom Level is 60.7%. There is a moderate negative correlation (r=-0.344) between perceived social support and general symptom level. Research findings are very important in terms of both medical and social work literature.
