Tarihsel sosyoloji perspektifinden Şerif Mardin

Abstract

20. asrın ilk çeyreği, sosyal bilimler alanında yeni ve özgün fikirlerin fidelendiği bir dönemdir. Tarih, sosyoloji, iktisat, coğrafya arasındaki keskin sınırlar sorgulanmış ve sosyal bilimler arasında iş birliği başlamıştır. Annales Okulu bu değişimin öncülüğünü yapmış, tarih ve sosyoloji alanında yeni bir paradigma ortaya koyarak tarihsel sosyolojik bir strateji geliştirmiştir. Tarihsel sosyoloji, geçmiş ve şimdinin bilgisini yeniden üretme teşebbüsüdür. Tarihsel sosyolojik perspektif, bugünle dün arasındaki uçurumlara yeni köprüler açar, göz ardı edilen insan gerçeğine entelektüel bir projektör tutar. Şerif Mardin, Türkiye'deki tarihsel sosyolojik çalışmalara örnek teşkil eden bir isimdir. Üç eseri Yeni Osmanlı Düşüncesinin Doğuşu, Jön Türklerin Siyasî Fikirleri ve Bediüzzaman Said Nursî Olayı, tarihsel sosyolojik perspektifle ele alındığında karakteristik bir yöntemle karşılaşılır. Bu yöntemde dikkat çeken en önemli özellik, sosyolojik değişimin arka plandaki teorik tohumlarına müteveccih kapsamlı arayıştır. İşbu tez, "Tarihsel sosyoloji nedir? Ne zaman ortaya çıkmış ve kimler öncülüğüyle gelişmiştir? Tarih ve sosyoloji ile tarihsel sosyoloji arasındaki fark nedir? Türkiye'de tarihsel sosyoloji ne durumdadır? Tarihsel sosyolojik perspektife giren belli başlı eserler hangileridir? Şerif Mardin'in tarihsel sosyolojik çerçeve içindeki yeri nedir?", gibi soruların cevabını aramaktadır. Ayrıca Şerif Mardin'in üç eserinin, Dennis Smith'in Barrington Moore tetkikine benzer bir stille tarihsel sosyolojik perspektiften içerik yönelimli bir değerlendirmesini yapmaktadır.

The first quarter of the 20th century is a significant period which holds new and original ideas seeded in social sciences. The sharp boundaries between history, sociology, economics and geography have been questioned and the collaboration between social sciences has begun in this era. The Annales School has led this change and developed a historical sociological strategy by introducing a new paradigm in the field of history and sociology. Historical sociology is an attempt to reproduce the knowledge of past and present. The historical sociological perspective builds new bridges over today's and yesterday's gaps; holding an intellectual projector to the neglected human reality. Serif Mardin is a name who has become an example in historical sociological studies in Turkey. If his three works, Yeni Osmanlı Düşüncesinin Doğuşu, Jön Türklerin Siyasî Fikirleri and Bediüzzaman Said Nursî Olayı, are reviewed from the historical sociological perspective, these works show a distinctive method. The most striking feature in this method is the comprehensive search for the theoretical seeds of sociological change in the background. This thesis contains certain topics; What is historical sociology? When did it come out and led by whom? What is the difference between sociology and history and historical sociology? What is the current status of historical sociology in Turkey? What are the major works which fall into historical sociological perspective? What is the position of Şerif Mardin in the historical sociological framework? It is also a content-driven assessment of the three works of Şerif Mardin from a historical sociological perspective with a style similar to Dennis Smith's work, Barrington Moore.
