Reşat Nuri'nin Çalıkuşu adlı romanında din ve toplum

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın konusu, Reşat Nuri Güntekin'in dini ve toplumsal meseleleri Çalıkuşu romanı özelinde nasıl ele aldığının analiz edilmesidir. 1889 – 1956 yılları arasında yaşayan Reşat Nuri Güntekin, dönemin siyasi, ekonomik, sosyokültürel ve dini yapısından etkilenmeksizin bir roman yazması düşünülemezdi. Bu açıdan bakıldığında 1922 yılında yayınlanan Çalıkuşu romanı ile dini eğitime bakış, geleneksel ve dini söylemler, dualar, dinselleştirilmiş ritüeller, kıyafet ve tesettür, ekonomik durum, kadın ve toplum baskısı gibi konular üzerinde durulur. Çalışmada, Osmanlı'nın son devrinde yaşayan Reşat Nuri'nin bu devri romana nasıl yansıttığı ve roman karakterlerinin din anlayışlarının nasıl ele alındığı izah edilir. Yazar, romanda savaş dönemini ve Anadolu hayatını da gözler önüne serer. Araştırmada kitaplar, makaleler, tezler ve fotoğraflarla birlikte Güntekin ve ailesiyle yapılan röportajlar da kullanılmıştır. Ele alınan bulgularda Çalıkuşu'nun toplumun sorunlarını dile getiren, dini meselelere yer veren, Feride karakteri üzerinden kadın figürünün baskı altında tutulması, eğitim, ekonomi, sağlık gibi konuların bir sorun haline geldiğinin ifade edildiği görülür. Ayrıca bulgular dindar insanların kaba, katı ve bağnaz olmaları, zihinlerinin yeniye tepki göstermesi, toplumun bunu sürdürmeye devam etmesi bununla birlikte gelişime dair bir adım atılamamasıyla dinin olumsuz anlamda Reşat Nuri tarafından ele alındığını gösterir. Çalıkuşu romanı karakter kadrosuyla toplumun hemen hemen her kesiminden insanı ele almaktadır. Zengin-fakir, doğulu-batılı, geleneksel-modern, eğitimli-eğitimsiz insanları bünyesinde barındıran roman, toplumun sorunlarına ve dini meselelere yer vermektedir.

The subject of this research is to analyze how Reşat Nuri Güntekin handles religious and social issues in the novel Çalıkuşu. Living between 1889 and 1956, Reşat Nuri Güntekin could not have written a novel without being influenced by the political, economic, sociocultural and religious structure of the period. From this point of view, the novel Çalıkuşu, published in 1922, focuses on issues such as the view of religious education, traditional and religious discourses, prayers, religiousized rituals, clothing and hijab, economic situation, women and social pressure. The study explains how Reşat Nuri, who lived in the last period of the Ottoman Empire, reflects this period in the novel and how the characters' understanding of religion is handled. The author, without bypassing the structure of the period, also reveals the war period and Anatolian life in the novel. In addition to books, articles, theses and photographs, interviews with Güntekin and his family were also used in the research. In the findings, it is seen that Çalıkuşu expresses the problems of the society, includes religious issues, the oppression of the female figure through the character Feride, and that issues such as education, economy and health have become a problem. In addition, the findings show that religion is dealt with negatively by Reşat Nuri in the sense that religious people are rude, rigid and bigoted, their minds react to the new, the society continues to maintain this, and no step can be taken towards development. The novel Çalıkuşu deals with people from almost every segment of society with its cast of characters. The novel, which includes rich-poor, eastern-western, traditional-modern, educated-uneducated people, includes the problems of society and religious issues.
