Öğretmenlerin empatik eğilimleri ile problem çözme becerilerinin incelenmesi

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın genel amacı; öğretmenlerin empatik eğilimleri ile problem çözme becerilerinin ne düzeyde olduğu ve demografik değişkenlere göre farklılık gösterip göstermediğini tespit etmektir. Araştırma 2017–2018 eğitim öğretim yılı, İstanbul ili Küçükçekmece, Bahçelievler ve Başakşehir ilçelerindeki ilkokul, ortaokul ve lisede görev yapan toplam 500 öğretmen ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma kapsamında demografik bilgi formunun yanında problem çözme envanteri ve empatik eğilim ölçeği kullanılarak veri toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizi SPSS 25.0 paket programı ile yapılmıştır. Buna göre verilerin analizinde aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma, t testi, ANOVA kullanılmıştır. Veri analizi sonuçlarına göre öğretmenlerin empatik eğilimlerinin orta düzeyde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Öğretmenlerin empatik eğilimleri cinsiyet, yaş, medeni durum, mesleki kıdem, eğitim durumu, görev yapılan okul türü değişkenlerine göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık göstermektedir. Bu anlamlı farklılık bayan öğretmenler, bekârlar, 21 ve üzeri yıl mesleki kıdeme sahip olanlar, yüksek lisans mezunları ve özel/vakıf okulunda çalışan öğretmenler lehinedir. Öğretmenlerin empatik eğilimleri görev yapılan eğitim kademesi değişkenine göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık göstermemektedir. Veri analizi sonuçlarına göre öğretmenlerin problem çözme becerilerinin yüksek düzeyde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Öğretmenlerin problem çözme becerileri yaş, mesleki kıdem, eğitim durumu, görev yapılan okul türü değişkenlerine göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık göstermektedir. Bu anlamlı farklılık 51 yaş ve üzeri, 21 ve üzeri yıl mesleki kıdeme sahip olanlar, yüksek lisans mezunları, lisede çalışan öğretmenler lehinedir. Öğretmenlerin problem çözme becerileri cinsiyet değişkenine göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık göstermemektedir. Öğretmenlerin empatik eğilimleri ile problem çözme becerileri arasında pozitif, orta düzeyde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Öğretmenlerin empatik eğilimi artıkça problem çözme becerileri artmaktadır.

The general purpose of this research is; to determine the level of the teachers' empathic tendencies and problem solving skills and whether they differ according to demographic variables. The research was conducted with a total of 500 teachers working in primary, secondary and high schools in the districts of Küçükçekmece, Bahçelievler and Başakşehir in the 2017-2018 academic year. Within the scope of the research, besides the demographic information form, the data were collected by using the problem solving inventory and the empathic tendency scale for teachers. The analysis of the data was done with the SPSS 25.0 package program. Accordingly, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t test, ANOVA were used in the analysis of the data. According to the data analysis results, it was determined that the empathic tendencies of the teachers were at a medium level. Empathic tendencies of the teachers show statistically significant differences according to the variables of gender, age, marital status, professional seniority, educational status, type of school. This significant difference is in favor of female teachers, singles, those with 21 or more years of professional seniority, master graduates and teachers working in private / foundation schools. Empathic tendencies of teachers do not show a statistically significant difference according to the educational level variable. According to the data analysis results, it was determined that the problem solving skills of the teachers were at a high level. The problem solving skills of teachers differ statistically significantly according to the variables of age, professional seniority, educational status and the type of school they work. This significant difference is in favor of those who are 51 years and older, those who have 21 years and over professional seniority, master graduates, high school teachers. There is no statistically significant difference in problem solving skills of teachers according to the gender variable. It has been determined that there is a positive, moderately statistically significant relationship between teachers' empathic tendencies and problem solving skills. As teachers' empathic tendency increases, their problem-solving skills increase.
