Sekizinci sınıf öğrencilerinin Birinci Dünya Savaşı’na yönelik algıları

Abstract

: Bu çalışma ortaokul sekizinci sınıf öğrencilerinin 1. Dünya Savaşı’na yönelik algılarını tespit etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmada öğrencilerin sahip oldukları algıların belirlenmesi amaçlandığı için nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden durum çalışması deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırma İstanbul’un Zeytinburnu ilçesinde bir devlet ortaokulunda gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemi seçkisiz örnekleme yöntemlerinden basit seçkisiz örnekleme yöntemine göre belirlenmiştir. Çalışmada derinlemesine bilgi toplanması, bir durumun sonuçlarının tespit edilmesi amaçlandığı için yarı yapılandırılmış mülakat yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Mülakat 14 öğrenciyle bizzat araştırmacı tarafından gerçekleştirilmiştir. Öğrenci söylemleri işlenirken betimsel analiz yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın bulguları araştırma alt problemlerine uygun olarak sunulmuştur. Çalışmadan Dünya Savaşı’nın, devletlerarasındaki rekabeti ve dünyaya hâkim olma hırsı gibi nedenlerden çıktığına, Osmanlı Devleti’nin izlediği siyasetin yanlış olduğuna, savaşın Osmanlı Devleti’ni olumsuz etkilediğine ve savaş sürecinde izlenilen politikaların, Türk tarihini olumsuz yönde etkilediğine yönelik bulgulara ulaşılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda öğrencilerin ders kazanımlarına yönelik algılar geliştirdikleri, I. Dünya Savaşı olaylarını değerlendirirken olayları eleştirel bir yaklaşımla, akademik olarak inceleyebildikleri bilgilerine ulaşılmıştır.

This research aims to determine the perceptions of the eighth grade secondary school students on World War I. As the study was aimed to determine the perceptions of the students, a case study design was used among qualitative research methods. The research was conducted in a state secondary school in Zeytinburnu district of Istanbul. The sample of the study was selected from random sampling methods according to simple random sampling method. The interview was conducted with 14 students by the researcher himself. The data obtained from the study were tabulated systematically under the title of themes and the student discourses were depicted by direct citation. Descriptive analysis method was used for the student discourse. The findings of the study were presented in accordance with the research sub-problems. From the study, it was found that the World War emerged from the reasons such as the competition between the states and the ambition to dominate the world, that the politics followed by the Ottoman State was wrong, the war negatively affected the Ottoman State and the policies followed during the war period had a bad effect on Turkish history. As a result of the study, it was found that the students developed the perceptions about the achievements, and when they were evaluating the events of World War I, they could examine the events academically with a critical approach.
