Öğretmenlerin umutsuzluk düzeyleri

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı ilkokul, ortaokul ve liselerde görev yapan öğretmenlerin umutsuzluk düzeylerini incelenmek ve bazı demografik özellikler açısından anlamlı farklılık olup olmadığını tespit etmektir. Araştırmada tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma evrenini Küçükçekmece, Bağcılar, Avcılar ve Esenyurt ilçelerinde görev yapan öğretmenler oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemi ise Küçükçekmece, Bağcılar, Avcılar ve Esenyurt ilçelerinde görev yapan uygun/kazara örnekleme metoduyla seçilen 297 öğretmenden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacılar tarafından oluşturulan “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” ve “Beck Umutsuzluk Ölçeği(BUÖ)”kullanılmıştır. Veri analizi sonuçlarına göre öğretmenlerin genel umutsuzluklarında hafif düzeyde umutsuzluk olduğu; “Beck Umutsuzluk Ölçeği”nin gelecek ile ilgili duygular ve beklentiler alt boyutunda, motivasyon kaybı altboyutunda ve umut alt boyutunda umutsuzluğun tamamen olmadığı görülmüştür. Öğretmenlerin umutsuzluk düzeyleri “Beck Umutsuzluk Ölçeği”nin umut alt boyutunda eğitim kademesi değişkenine göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermektedir. Bu anlamlı farklılık ilkokulda görev yapan sınıf öğretmenleri ile lisede görev yapan öğretmenler arasında ilkokulda görev yapan sınıf öğretmenleri lehinedir. İlkokulda görev yapan sınıf öğretmenlerinin lisede görev yapan öğretmenlere göre daha umutlu oldukları söylenebilir. Öğretmenlerin umutsuzluk düzeyleri cinsiyet, eğitim durumu, yaş, mesleki kıdem, görev yaptığı okuldaki kıdem, branş değişkenlerine göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermemektedir.

The aim of this study is to investigate the level of hopelessness of teachers working in primary, secondary and high schools and to determine whether there is a significantdifference in terms of some demographicc haracteristics. Thes creening model wasused in the study. The study population consists of teachers who work in Küçükçekmece, Bağcılar, Avcılar and Esenyurt districts. The sample of the study is composed of 297 teachers selected by the appropriate/random sampling method in Küçükçekmece, Bağcılar, Avcılar and Esenyurt districts. “Personal Information Form” which is created by the researchers and “Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS)” were used as data collection tools.According to the results of the data analysis, there was a slight despair in the general hopelessness of teachers; in the sub-dimension of motivation loss, in the sub-dimension of hope, in the sub-dimension of feelings related to the future and in the sub-dimension of expectations there was not a complete despair. The hopelessness levels of the teachers show a significant difference according to the education level variable in the sub-dimension of the Beck Hopelessness Scale. This significant difference is between the teachers of the primary school and the teachers working in the high school. It can be said that the primary school teachers are more hopeful than the teachers working in high school. The levels of hopelessness of teachers do not show a significant difference according to gender, educational status, age, professionalseniority, seniority in the school and branch variables.
