Unleashing Environmental Sustainability Thoughts for Achieving Environmental Performance: Exploring the Role of Green Innovation

Abstract

This paper aims at exploring the existing relations among green innovation, environmental sustainability thoughts, environmental performance. We tested research hypotheses using data collected from 575 respondents of SMEs. Questionnaire was used as a tool for finding results through random sampling and suggested that these results can be useful to explore this specific field of study and to develop future research. By adding green innovation, we show to firms how to become efficient and improve environmental performance. Besides, the study, incorporated into developed literature, gives a well-built basis for studying the effect of environmental sustainability thoughts on environmental performance, with the mediating role of green innovation. Results can be useful for managers doing business in a sustainable way, as they need to understand the importance played by green innovation. In fact, the green innovation in the organization enhances the chances of boosting environmental sustainability thoughts and help in improving environmental performance. The perspective followed in this paper is in line with past theoretical studies and highlights attractive patterns in eco-friendly businesses. Likewise, the research includes insights into the sustainability domain, connecting various factors to achieve a wider understanding and complex analysis of each dimension that is influenced by green innovation.
