Pandemi döneminde otizmli çocuğa sahip annelerin sosyal destek ile stresle başa çıkma düzeyleri arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesi

Abstract

Yaygın gelişimsel bozukluklar içinde yer alan otizm, bireyin yaşamını kısıtlamakla birlikte çevrenin de düzenlenmesini gerektirmektedir. Bu bağlamda özellikle otizmli çocuğa sahip aileler ciddi sorunlar yaşayabilmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı otizmli çocuğa sahip annelerin pandemi döneminde stresle başa çıkma yöntemlerini ve sosyal destek arasındaki ilişkisel boyutu incelemektir. Bu araştırmada nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden anket yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemi belirlenen merkezlerin yoğunluğu, pandemi koşulları ve bazı annelere ulaşmanın zaman açısından güçlüğü gibi nedenlerden dolayı 200 Otizmli çocuğa sahip anne ile sınırlandırılmıştır. Verilerin toplanmasında sosyodemografik veri formu, Stresle Başa Çıkma Yöntemleri Ölçeği ve Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği baz alınmıştır. Elde edilen bulgularda medeni durumu evli, yaş aralığı 35-45, eğitim durumu üniversite, aile tipinin çekirdek, otizmli çocuk sayısının daha az ve otizmli çocuğunun yaşının daha büyük olanların stresle başa çıkma yöntemlerinin daha yüksek olduğu saptanmıştır. Gelir düzeyi yüksek çıkan annelerin ise algılanan sosyal destek düzey puan türlerinin daha fazla olduğu kanıtlanmıştır. Algılanan sosyal destek ve stresle başa çıkma puanları arasında anlamlılık bulunmuştur. Elde edilen bulgu ve sonuçlar otizmli çocuğa sahip olan annelerin ruhsal sağlıklarının daha iyi anlaşılmasında ve tedavi yöntemlerinde uzmanlar için faydalı bilgiler sunmaktadır.

Autism, which is among the pervasive developmental disorders, restricts the life of the individual and requires regulation of the environment. In this context, families with children with autism may experience serious problems. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between social support and methods of coping with stress during the pandemic period of mothers of children with autism. In this study, the survey method, one of the quantitative research methods, was used. The sample of the study was limited to 200 mothers of children with autism due to reasons such as the density of the designated centers, pandemic conditions and time difficulties in reaching some mothers. Sociodemographic data form, Stress Coping Methods Scale and Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale were used to collect data. In the findings, it was determined that the marital status was married, the age range was 35-45, the education level was university, the family type was nuclear, the number of children with autism was less, and the age of the child with autism was older, and the methods of coping with stress were higher. It has been proven that mothers with higher income levels have higher perceived social support level scores. Significant relationships were found between perceived social support and stress coping scores. The findings provide useful information for experts in better understanding the mental health of mothers of children with autism and in treatment methods.
