Geçmişten Bugüne Bilim Dili Olarak Türkçe

Abstract

Herhangi bir dilin bilim dili olması için iki önemli koşul gereklidir. Bunlardan birincisi dilin zengin bir geçmişinin olması diğeri ise dilin (başka bir deyişle o dili kullanan milletin) hâlihazır- da her alanda güçlü bir durumda olmasıdır. Dilin zengin geçmişin- den kasıt; tarihinin çok eskiye gitmesi, önemli başarılar kazanmış bir milletin dili olması, o milletin diğer milletlerin dil birikiminden yararlanmış olması, kavramları ifade etmek için yeterli bir söz da- ğarcığının bulunması gerekliliğidir. İkinci koşul, dilin dolayısıyla dili kullanan milletin hâlihazır durumu ile ilgilidir. Bundan kasıt ise şudur. Öncelikle milletin dil bilinci edinmiş olması, kendi dilinin değerinin farkına varmasıdır. Ardından milletin bilim, felsefe ve sa- nat alanında keşfeden, yapan; bunları dünyaya yayan, satan; yaptığı, yaydığı, ürettiği her şeyi kontrol edip daha iyisini yeniden üreten, yeni keşifler peşinde koşan ve bu süreci planlı, disiplinli, azimli bir süreklilik hâline getirmiş bir millet olması gerekir. Bunu başaranlar; eğitim, adalet, hukuk, sağlık gibi hayatın hemen her alanında zaten başarılıdır. Bilim dili olarak Türkçeye bakıldığında birinci durumun gerçekleşmiş olduğu görülür. Bu anlamda Türkçenin bilim dili ol- ması önünde bir engel yoktur. İkinci durum açısından bakıldığında, bunun henüz Türkçe açısından çok olumlu olduğu söylenemez. Bu yazıda, önce önemli dönüm noktaları ile Türkçenin özünü bulması ve bilim dili olması yolunda geçirmiş olduğu tarihî süreç ele alın- mıştır. Ardından ana sorunlar etrafında Türkçenin bugün için dünya- da geçerli bir bilim dili olamamasının sebepleri ve bunların aşılması için neler yapılması gerektiğine kısaca değinilmiştir. Yazı sonunda Türkçenin köklü bir geçmişe sahip olmasına rağmen henüz dünyada geçerli muteber bir bilim dili olamadığı kanaati ifade edilmiştir.

Two important conditions are necessary for any language to be a language of science. The first of these is that the language has a rich history, and the other is that the language (in other words, the nation using that language) is currently in a strong position in every field. What is meant by the rich history of the lan- guage is that it has a long history, it is the language of a nation that has achieved significant successes, that nation has benefited from the linguistic accumulation of other nations, and that it has a suf- ficient vocabulary to express concepts. The second condition is re- lated to the current state of the language and therefore the nation using the language. What is meant by this is the following. First of all, the nation must have acquired language consciousness and realise the value of its own language. Then, the nation should be a nation that discovers and makes discoveries in the fields of science, philosophy and art; spreads and sells these discoveries to the world; controls everything it has made, spread and produced, reproduces better ones, pursues new discoveries, and has turned this process into a planned, disciplined and determined continuity. Those who achieve this are already successful in almost all areas of life such as education, justice, law and health. When we look at Turkish as a language of science, we see that the first situation has been re- alised. In this sense, there is no obstacle for Turkish to become a language of science. In terms of the second situation, it cannot be said that this situation is very positive for Turkish yet. In this article, firstly, the historical process that Turkish has gone through to find its essence and become a language of science is discussed with im- portant turning points. Then, the reasons why Turkish cannot be a valid language of science in the world today and what needs to be done to overcome these problems are briefly mentioned. At the end of the article, the opinion was expressed that although Turkish has a deep-rooted history, it has not yet become a recognized language of science in the world.
