Öğrencilerin özgüven ve sorumluluk duygusunun akademik başarı üzerindeki rolü

Abstract

Öğrencilerin başarılarını etkileyen ve geliştiren değişkenlerin belirlenmesi ve başarıyı artırıcı çalışmaların yapılması önemli görülmektedir. Bu araştırmada öğrencilerin özgüven ve sorumluluk duygusunun akademik başarı üzerindeki rolünü ortaya koymak amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden ilişkisel tarama modelinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın verileri Küçükçekmece Gülten Özaydın Çok Programlı Anadolu Lisesinde okuyan öğrencilerden elde edilmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu 187'si ( %57) kız, 125'i erkek ( %38) olmak üzere toplam 312 öğrencinden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada "Özgüven Ölçeği", "Sorumluluk Duygusu Ölçeği" kullanılmıştır. Öğrencilerin akademik başarı notları bir önceki yıl karne notlarından alınmıştır. Bununla birlikte öğrencilerin demografik özelliklerinin tespit edilmesinde kişisel bilgi formu kullanılmıştır. Ölçeklerden elde edilen puanların analizinde frekans ve yüzdelikler, iki grup ortalamaları arasındaki farkın anlamlılığı için t testi, ikiden fazla grup ortalamaları arasındaki farkın anlamlılığı için de tek yönlü varyans analizi kullanılmıştır. Bununla birlikte iki bağımsız değişkenin bağımlı değişken üzerindeki rolünü incelemek amacıyla çoklu regresyon analizi yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre erkek öğrencilerin kadın öğrencilere göre özgüven düzeylerinin daha yüksek olduğu, anne-babaları birlikte olanların öz güvenlerinin daha yüksek olduğu, anne ve babaların eğitim düzeyleri yükseldikçe çocukların özgüvenlerinin arttığı, kardeşi olmayanların özgüvenlerinin daha yüksek olduğu, sorumluluk düzeyinin cinsiyet açısından anlamlı farklılaşmadığı, sınıf düzeyi arttıkça sorumluluk duygusunun yükseldiği bulunmuştur. Bununla birlikte kadınların erkeklere göre akademik olarak daha başarılı oldukları, annenin eğitim düzeyi yükseldikçe öğrencinin akademik başarısının da arttığı gözlenmektedir. Özgüven duygusunun sorumluluk duygusuna göre akademik başarıyı daha çok yordadığı görülmektedir. Sonuç olarak akademik başarı öğrencilerin özgüven ve sorumluluk duygularından etkilenmektedir.

It is important to determine the variables that affect and improve students' achievements and to carry out studies to increase success. In this study, it was aimed to reveal the role of students' self-confidence and sense of responsibility on academic achievement. The research was carried out in the corelational model, one of the quantitative research methods. The data of the study were obtained from students studying in Küçükçekmece Gülten Özaydın Multi-Program Anatolian High School. The study group of the study consists of a total of 312 students, 187 (57%) girls and 125 boys (38%). "Self Confidence Scale" and "Sense of Responsibility Scale" were used in the research. The academic success grades of the students were taken from the report cards of the previous year. In addition, a personal information form was used to determine the demographic characteristics of the students. In the analysis of the scores obtained from the scales, frequency and percentages, t test for the significance of the difference between the averages of the two groups, and one-way analysis of variance for the significance of the difference between the averages of more than two groups. In addition, multiple regression analysis was performed to examine the role of two independent variables on the dependent variable. Male students have higher selfesteem than female students, their parents have higher self-esteem, their parents have higher self-esteem, their level of self-esteem has increased, their level of responsibility has no significant difference between the groups. It was revealed with the research findings that the sense of responsibility increases as the grade level increases. However, it is observed that women are more successful academically than men, and the academic success of the students increases as the education level of the mother increases. It is seen that self-esteem predict academic success more than sense of responsibility. As a result, academic success is affected by students' self-confidence and sense of responsibility.
