Toplumsal statü ve algı açısından öğretmenlik mesleğinin incelenmesi

Abstract

Öğretmenlik, ülkenin geleceğini oluşturacak nesilleri yetiştirmesi açısından her zaman değerini koruyan mesleklerin başında gelir. Öğretmenin hak ettiği bu değeri layıkıyla görmesi mesleğini yerine getirirken onu motive eden önemli bir unsur olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Öğretmenin toplumdaki sosyal, kültürel, ekonomik konumunun iyi bir seviyede olması mesleki başarılarını da beraberinde getirir. Bu çalışmada ülkemizde öğretmenlik mesleğinin toplumsal statüsü, mesleğin toplum nezdinde nasıl algılandığı, öğretmenlik mesleğinin genel özellikleri, mesleğin statüsünü belirleyen faktörler, diğer mesleklerle statü ve algı açısından karşılaştırılması, geçmişten günümüze bu statü ve algıda yaşanan değişiklikler, öğretmenlerin kendi mesleklerine bakışı konularında literatür taraması yapılmıştır. Ayrıca halen görevde olan farklı kıdemlere sahip iki öğretmenin görüşleri de alınarak içerden bir bakış ile konunun değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma sonunda elde edilen bilgiler değerlendirildiğinde öğretmenlik mesleğinin toplumda her zaman kutsal sayılan bir meslek olmasının yanı sıra zaman zaman statüsünde değişiklikler yaşandığı görülmüştür. Bu durumda; öğretmen niteliklerinden kültürel ve sosyal hayatımızdaki değişikliklere, medyada kullanılan dilden politika yapıcıların aldığı bazı kararlara, ekonomik şartlardan lisans eğitiminin kalitesine kadar birçok etkenin rol oynadığı tespit edilmiştir.

Teaching is one of the professions that always preserves its value in terms of raising the generations that will make up the future of the country. It is an important element that motivates him when he fulfills his profession to see this value he deserves as a teacher brings with it.In this study, we searched the literature on the social status of the teaching profession in our country, how the profession is perceived before the society, the general characteristics of the teaching profession, the factors that determine the status of the profession, the status and perception of other professions, changes in this status and perception from past to present, and the teachers' view of their own professions. In addition, it was aimed to evaluate the subject with an inside view by taking the opinions of two teachers with different seniority who are still on duty. When the information obtained at the end of the study is evaluated, it is seen that the teaching profession is always a sacred profession in the society, as well as changes in status, from time to time. Many factors have been found to play a role.
