Özet
In the last few decades, there has been growing literature on the development of financial organizations and their roles in economic structures, particularly during the early modern period. This part sets the stage for a comprehensive exploration of the evolution of Islamic financial institutions, with a particular focus on cash waqfs. Including financial organizations of the South of Italy, the Netherlands, and England, this part paves the way for a comparison of the development and proliferation of these organizations. The introduction outlines the methodological approach employed in the book, emphasizing the use of comparative analysis to discern patterns, variations, and innovations in the development of financial organizations. Thus, the importance of examining historical precedents and understanding the cultural differences that had a significant role in financial practices is emphasized, providing a background for the subsequent chapters.
