Büyükşehirlerde gençlerin beden algısı ve dövme pratikleri

Abstract

İnsan bedeni, tarihsel süreçte farklı biçimlerde algılanmış ve farklı biçimlerde tanımlanmıştır. İlk olarak beden sadece biyolojik bir nesne olarak ele alınmış, bedenin sosyo kültürel yönü, yaşantılara bağlı olan süreçte çeşitli yaklaşımlarla desteklenerek tartışılmaya başlanmıştır. Sosyolojik anlamda beden, yalnızca biyolojik olarak verili bir nesne olmayıp, söylemler ve toplumsal uygulamalarla şekillendirilen sosyal bir yapılandırma olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Tarihin her döneminde beden, belli simge ve semboller taşımış ve bu bağlamda düşünce ve yaşantılara bir yön vermiştir. Bu çalışma ile genç bireylerin beden algılarına etki eden toplumsal faktörler incelenirken, diğer yandan da günümüz toplumlarında giderek popüler hale gelen ve bedene bir müdahale olarak görülebilecek dövme uygulamasının sosyokültürel anlamı üzerine odaklanılmaktadır. Günümüzde geleneksel kesimde önemini kaybetmiş durumda bulunan dövme âdeti kentsel kesimde hızla büyüyen bir sektör haline gelmiştir. Bu nedenle de dövmenin popülerleşmesinin toplumsal gerekçelerini ortaya koymak önemlidir. Dövme, pek çok kişi tarafından bedenin güzelleştirilmesi, dikkat çekmek, popüler olmak, kendi imajını oluşturmak ve süs amaçlı olarak tercih edilmektedir. Günümüzde gittikçe yaygınlaşan dövmenin, gençlerin beden algısı ve beden pratikleri açısından ele alınması günümüz tüketim toplumunun şartları ile yakından ilgilidir. "Beden memnuniyeti" kavramı ve dövme ile ilgili bilgilerden hareketle, eğitimli genç oranının oldukça yüksek olduğu bir ilçe olan Beşiktaş ilçesinde yaşayan 17-34 yaş grubu bireylerle yapılan anket araştırmasına dayanan bu çalışma, dövmeli gençlerin beden memnuniyetini ölçmek, dövmenin diğer beden pratikleri ile ilişkisini ele almak açısından büyük önem taşımaktadır. Gençlerin beden memnuniyeti ve günümüz toplumunda bedeni düzenleyen söylemlerin bir arada tartışıldığı bu çalışmada, gençlerin dövmeyi uygulatma nedenleri, dövmede tercih edilen simge ve motifler, dövme-popülarite, dövme-özgürlük, dövme-dışlanma, dövme-din ilişkisi konuları ele alınmıştır. Bütün bunlar, bedenin toplumsal etkileşim içindeki önemini ve gündelik yaşam içerisindeki gerçekliklerin üretilmesindeki ağırlıklı rolünü göstermektedir. "Büyükşehirlerde Gençlerin Beden Algısı ve Dövme Pratikleri" başlıklı bu çalışma ile gençlerin beden algıları ortaya konabilir, beden memnuniyetsizliği ve nedenleri ölçülebilirse ileriye dönük tahminler yapılabilir ve genç bedenlerin geleceği konusunda ayakların biraz yere basması sağlanabilir.The human body is defined in different ways by being evaluated in different ways in the historical process. Firstly, the body was handled as a biological object, and the socio-cultural aspect of the body began to be discussed with various approaches supported by the experience. In the sociological sense, the body is defined not as a biologically distributed object but only as a social configuration that is shaped by discourses and social practices. In every period of history, the body carried certain symbols which have given a direction to thoughts and lives in this context. This study focuses on the sociocultural meaning of tattooing, which can be seen as an intervention that becomes increasingly popular in contemporary societies while analysising the social factors affecting the physical perceptions of young individuals. Today, the tattoo tradition, which has been loosing importance in the traditional sector, has become a rapidly growing sector in the urban sector. Therefore, it is important to establish the social justifications of the popularization of tattoos. Tattoos are preferred by many people to make the body beautiful, to get attraction and attention, being popular, and to create his own image. Today, the increasingly widespreading of tattoo among young people in terms of body perception and body practices is closely related to the conditions of today's consumer society.This study, based on a questionnaire survey conducted with 17-34 age group students living in Besiktas district, where the ratio of educated young people is very high, on the basis of the concept of "body satisfaction" and tattooing, measures the satisfaction of the tattooed young people and the relation of the tattoo with other body practices is highly great important. In this study where the body satisfaction of the young people and the discourses that regulate the body in today's society are discussed covering the topics of the causes of the tattooing of the young people, symbols and motifs preferred for tattooing, tattoo-popularity, tattoo-freedom, tattooexclusion and tattoo-religion issues as well. All these threads indicate the importance of the body in social interaction and its predominant role in producing the realities in everyday life. This study, titled "Body sensation and tattooing practices of youth in the metropolitan cities" can reveal the body's perceptions of the young, makes forward estimates if their body dissatisfaction and causes can be measured, and allow foot press somewhat in the matter of the future of young bodies.
