Multiple Skleroz hastalarının hastalık deneyimlerinin sosyal hizmet perspektifinden incelenmesi

Abstract

Multiple Skleroz(MS) yaşam boyu seyri devam eden kronik bir hastalıktır. MS tanısı alan bireylerin hastalık deneyimlerinin Sosyal hizmet perspektifinde değerlendirilerek MS’li hastalara sunulacak hizmetlerin bütüncül bakış açısı ile planlanması önem taşımaktadır. Bu araştırmanın amacı, MS hastalığını deneyimleyen bireylerin hastalık süreçlerinin sosyal işlevselliklerine olan etkilerini incelemek ve bireylerin sosyal yaşamlarında ne tür değişimler yaşandığını belirlemektir. Araştırma, fenomenolojik yaklaşım ile çalışılmış nitel bir araştırmadır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu, MS tanısı konmuş Türkiye Multiple Skleroz Derneği İstanbul şubesine üye olan ve gönüllü olarak araştırmaya katılmayı kabul etmiş farklı demografik özelliklere sahip 15’i kadın 15’i erkek toplam 30 MS hastasından oluşmaktadır. MS’li hastalar ile “Görüşme Formu” rehberliğinde 45-60 dakika süren derinlemesine görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiş ve gerçekleştirilen bu görüşmelerin ses kayıtları daha sonra Word ortamında yazıya dökülerek manuel yöntem ile deşifre edilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler MAXQDA 2020 programı ile kodlanmıştır. Kodlama ile elde edilen veriler betimsel analiz ve içerik analiz yöntemleri kullanılarak yorumlanmıştır. MS hastalarının tanı ve tedavi süreci, psikososyal deneyimler, aile ve iş ilişkileri, günlük yaşam deneyimleri, toplumsal ilişki deneyimleri, sağlık sistemi deneyimleri ve demografik özelliklerden dolayı farklı deneyimleri bulunmaktadır. Bu deneyimlerin günlük yaşam aktivitelerinin yerine getirilmesinde ve işlevsel açıdan yaşamın sürdürülmesinde sınırlandırıcı etkileri görülmüştür. Bu çalışma ile bireyin yaşam alanlarındaki söz konusu sınırlandırıcı etkinin Ms’li bireylerin sosyal yaşama katılımlarının sosyal işlevsellik düzeyinde ele alınarak çözüm ve öneri sunabilmesi açısından sosyal hizmet alanına katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir

Multiple Skleroz (MS) is a chronic disease with a lifelong course. It is important to raise awareness on increasing the services to be offered to patients with MS by developing a versatile perspective on increasing the life functionality related to the disease by evaluating the disease experiences of individuals diagnosed with MS in social work perspective. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the disease process on the social functionality of individuals with MS disease and to determine what kind of changes occur in the social lives of individuals. The research was conducted in a phenomenological to discover the meaning with a qualitative method. The universe of the study composed 30 patients, 15 females and 15 males, who were diagnosed with MS and members of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Turkey Istanbul branch and with different demographic characteristics agree to participate voluntarily. 20-45 minutes of in-depth interviews were conducted with MS patients under the guidance of a "Research Form" developed in this study, and the audio recordings of these interviews were transcribed in Microsoft Word and deciphered by the manual method. The data obtained were encoded with MAXQDA 2020 program and analyzed descriptively. The options obtained by coding are interpreted for descriptive analysis and content analysis methods. Patients with MS have different experiences due to the diagnosis and treatment processes, psychosocial experiences, family and work relations, daily life experiences, social relations, health services experiences and demography. These experiences have limited effects on daily life activities and functioning their lives. With this study,it is thought that the said limiting effect in the life of the individual will contribute to the field of social work in terns of providing solutions and suggestions by considering the participation of individuals with MS in social lifeat the level of social functionality
