19. Yüzyıl İstanbul’unda Tarihi Ahşap Çatı Sistem Örnekleri ve Onarımları

Abstract

19. yüzyılda İstanbul’da inşa edilen yapıların ahşap çatı sistemleri ait oldukları dönemin taşıyıcı sistem kurgusunu anlatan değerli mimari ve strüktürel ögelerdir. Bu döneme ait yapılardan zaman içinde yapılan restorasyon çalışmaları sonucunda çatıların yenilenmesi, bakımsızlık, yangın ve deprem gibi doğal afetler sonucunda özgün olarak günümüze ulaşan ahşap çatı sayısı son derece azdır. İstanbul’da yer alan İbrahim Paşa Muhsine Hatun Camii, Dolmabahçe Sarayı Süfera Salonu ve Arnavutköy Tevfikiye Camii ahşap çatıları geçilen açıklık, kullanılan malzeme, kesitler, taşıyıcı sistem kurgusu ve metal bağlantı elemanları ile özgün örneklerdir. Büyük kesitli ahşap elemanların çatı strüktüründe kullanılmasının taşıyıcı sistem elemanlarının korunmasında olumlu etki oluşturduğu ve bu elemanların kullanıldığı çatıların 100 yılı aşkın yaşlarına rağmen genel olarak iyi durumda olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bununla birlikte ahşap elemanlarda rötre çatlakları, zamana bağlı sehimler ve lokal malzeme bozulmaları, metal elemanlarda ise korozyon etkileri görülmektedir. Özellikle rötre etkisiyle zaman içinde çatlayan, kesiti azalan çatı elemanlarının, metal birleşim elemanlarında gevşemelere ve boşalmalara sebep olduğu görülmüştür. Çalışmanın bu döneme ait çatı sistemleri ile ilgili restorasyon çalışmalarının tanı, değerlendirme ve müdahale aşamalarında literatüre katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.

Timber roof systems of the structures built in Istanbul in the 19th century are valuable architectural and structural elements that describe the structural system design of the period they belong to. As a result of the restoration works carried out over time in buildings belonging to this period, the number of wooden roofs that have survived to the present day as a result of natural disasters such as renewal of the roofs, neglect, fire and earthquake is extremely low. The wooden roof of İbrahim Pasha Muhsine Hatun Mosque, and the Dolmabahçe Palace Süfera Hall and the Arnavutköy Tevfikiye Mosque, located in İstanbul, are original examples with the span they pass through, the material used, the structure of the load-bearing system, their sections and metal fasteners. It has been determined that the use of large cross-section wooden elements in the roof structure has a positive effect on the protection of the structural system elements and the roofs in which these elements are used are generally in good condition despite their age of more than 100 years. However, shrinkage cracks, time-dependent deflections and local material deterioration are observed in wooden elements, and corrosion effects are observed in metal elements.In addition, it has been observed that roof elements, which crack over time due to the shrinkage effect and whose cross-section decreases, cause loosening and discharges in the metal joint elements. It is thought that the study will contribute to the literature in the diagnosis, evaluation and intervention stages of the restoration studies related to the roof systems of this period.
