The Monetary Foundations in the Ottoman period had financial practices at the national and regional scales in accordance with Islamic methods within the economic system in which they operated as well as the Participating Banks do these days. The fact that the two institutions recognized the prohibition of interest and engaged in financial activities in accordance with the Islamic religion have been their first commonalities which caused their rapprochement by some. The fact that the Monetary Foundations of the Ottoman period were mostly regional organizations, they contribute significantly to the development of society by carrying out activities of social solidarity and cooperation in the regions where they are established. Participating Banks, on the other hand, operate nationally under the name of bank, but they contribute significantly to the national economy. In this research, we examine Participating Banks and the Ottoman Monetary Foundations according to their economic systems, their period, the societies to which they are addressed, their financial operations and their applications.
