Lise öğrencilerinin bilişim teknolojileri kullanım düzeyi ile akademik başarıları arasındaki ilişki

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, lise öğrencilerinin akademik başarı değişkeninin belirleyicisi olan dönemlik not ortalamalarının temel alınarak öğrencilerin bilişim teknolojileri kullanım düzeyleri ile akademik başarıları arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesidir. Araştırma ilişkisel tarama modelinde nicel bir araştırmadır. Çalışmanın örneklemini 2019-2020 eğitim-öğretim yılı İstanbul ili Küçükçekmece ilçesinde öğrenim görmekte olan 302 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak Özmusul (2011) tarafından geliştirilen "Bilişim Teknolojilerinden Yararlanma Ölçeği" kullanılmıştır. Öğrencilerin başarı düzeyleri okullardaki e-okul sisteminden elde edilmiştir. Araştırma verileri IBM SPSS istatistik paket programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda öğrencilerin bilişim teknolojilerini "genelde" düzeyinde kullandıkları görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin bilişim teknolojileri kullanım düzeyleri cinsiyet, cep telefonu olup olmama ve sosyal medya kullanıp kullanmama durumlarına göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermemektedir. Öğrencilerin bilişim teknolojileri kullanım düzeyleri sınıf düzeylerine göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermektedir. 9.,10. ve 12. Sınıfların bilişim teknolojileri kullanım düzeyinin 11. Sınıflara göre daha yüksek olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmada öğrenci akademik başarı düzeylerinin orta seviyede olduğu tespit edilmiştir. 10. sınıfların akademik başarı düzeyinin 12. Sınıflara göre daha yüksek olduğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca sosyal medya kullanmayan öğrencilerin kullanan öğrencilere göre akademik açıdan daha başarılı olduğu görülmüştür. Araştırma sonucuna göre öğrencilerin bilişim teknolojileri kullanım düzeyleri ile akademik başarıları arasında anlamlı bir ilişki olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Yapılan bu çalışma sadece lise öğrencilerine uygulanmıştır. Yaş grupları ve eğitim kademeleri arasındaki değişimi gözlemlemek ve uzaktan eğitim sürecinde bilişim teknolojilerinin etkin kullanımının başarıya etkisini ölçmek amacıyla farklı eğitim kademelerine uygulanabilir.

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between students' information technologies usage levels and their academic achievements based on their semester grade averages, which are the determinants of the academic achievements of high school students. The research is a quantitative research in correlational survey model. The sample of the study consists of 302 students studying in Küçükçekmece District of Istanbul Province in the 2019-2020 academic year. In the research, the "Information Technology Utilization Scale" developed by Özmusul (2011) was used as the data collecting tool. The achievement levels of the students were obtained from the e-school system in schools. Research data was analyzed by using IBM SPSS statistical package program. As a result of the study, it was found out that the students used information technologies at the level of "generally". The students' information technologies usage levels show no significant difference according to their gender, and whether or not they use mobile phones and social media.Students' information technologies usage levels show a significant difference according to their grades. It was found out that information technologies usage levels of the grades 9th, 10th and 12th were higher than the grades 11th .In this study, it was found out that student achievement levels were at an average level. It was found out that the 10th grade students' achievement level was higher than the 12th grade students'. In addition, it was found out that students who did not use social media were academically more successful than the students who used social media. This study was applied only to high school students. This study can be applied to different class levels in order to observe the change between age groups and grades. Besides,it can be used to evaluate the effect of efficient usage of information technologies on achievement during the distance education process.
