Türkiye'deki üniversitelerin misyon ve vizyon ifadelerinin tematik olarak incelenmesi

Abstract

Bu araştırma devlet ve vakıf üniversitelerinin stratejik planlarındaki misyon ve vizyon ifadelerini tematik açıdan incelemeyi ve analiz etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Misyon ve vizyon ifadeleri arasındaki benzerliklerin ve farklı yönlerin ortaya konulması ise çalışmanın alt amacını oluşturmaktadır. Bu araştırma yükseköğretim kurumlarının gerçekçi ve gerçekçi olmayan bir ifadeye dayanan misyon ve vizyon ifadelerinin kurum açısından ne gibi sonuçlar doğuracağını öngörebilmeleri açısından önemli bir konudur. Araştırmanın evrenini 108 devlet üniversitesi ve 68 vakıf üniversitesi olmak üzere toplamda 176 üniversite oluşturmaktadır. 176 üniversitenin stratejik planında yer alan misyon ve vizyon ifadelerine ait veriler doküman incelemesi tekniği ile toplanmış, nitel bir araştırma yöntemi olan içerik analizi ile çözümlenmiştir. Misyon ve vizyon ifadeleri dört ana tema altında toplanmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda, üniversitelerin stratejik planlarında yer alan Misyon ifadelerinde en sıklıkla görülen temanın “Kaliteli İnsan Gücü Yetiştirmeye Yönelik” tema, Vizyon ifadeleri içinde en sık görülen temanın ise “Kaliteli İnsan Gücü Yetiştirmeye Yönelik” teması olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Devlet üniversitelerinin misyon ifadelerinde en sık görülen temanın “Toplumsal İşlevine Yönelik” teması olduğu, Vakıf üniversitelerinin misyon ifadelerinde en sık görülen temanın “Kaliteli İnsan Gücü Yetiştirmeye Yönelik” teması olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

This research aims to examine and analyze the mission and vision statements in the strategic plans of state and foundation universities. The sub-objective of the study is to reveal the similarities and different aspects between mission and vision statements. This research is an important issue in terms of predicting the results of the mission and vision statements based on a realistic and unrealistic expression of higher education institutions. The universe of the study consists of 176 universities, 108 state universities and 68 foundation universities. The data of the mission and vision statements in the strategic plan of 176 universities were collected by document analysis technique and analyzed by content analysis which is a qualitative research method. Mission and vision statements are grouped under four main themes. As a result of the research, it is determined that the most common theme in the mission statements included in the strategic plans of the universities is to train the quality manpower and the most common theme in the Vision statements is the theme of training the quality manpower. The most common theme in the mission statements of the state universities is the theme of Social Function, It has been determined that the most common theme in the mission statements of private universities is to raise the Quality Manpower theme.
