Özel okul öğretmenlerinin günlük duygusal emeklerinin öğrencilerin akademik performansına etkisi

Abstract

İnsanlarla etkileşimin bulunduğu mesleklerin hepsinde bireylerin duygu durumları iletişim için önemlidir. İş hayatında çalışanlar, müşterilerle etkileşim içinde bulunurken duygularını yönetebilmelidirler. Haliyle duyguların yönetilmesi sorununun ortaya çıkması duygusal emek kavramını literatüre kazandırmış ve birçok araştırmacı tarafından hizmet sektörünün çeşitli alanlarında test edilmiştir. İnsanlarla etkileşimin en çok olduğu sektör olan hizmet sektöründe eğitim önemli bir yer tutmaktadır. Öğretmenlerin öğrencilerle olan etkileşimleri sebebiyle onların duygusal durumları öğrencilere yansıyabilmektedir. Özel okulları bir işletme olarak dikkate aldığımızda, öğrencilerin başarısının artması özel okulların karlılığını artıracaktır. Çalışmamızda özel okul öğretmenlerinin duygusal emeklerinin öğrencilerin akademik performansı ile ilişkisi incelenmiş ve uzlamsal bir metotla 35 katılımcıya 5 gün boyunca anket uygulanmıştır. Öğretmenlerin o günkü duygusal emekleri o gün ders verdikleri sınıfların anlatılan dersten gösterdikleri başarı ile birlikte analize dahil edilmiştir. Öğrenci başarısı, ilgili konudan öğrencilere yapılan ortak test sınavları ile ölçülmüş objektif veridir. Öğretmenlerden toplanan anketlerden 172’si analizlere dahil edilmiştir. Anket sonuçlarının SPSS analiz programı kullanılarak faktör analizi, güvenilirlik analizi ve korelasyon analizi yoluyla çalışmanın hipotezleri sınanmıştır. Analiz sonuçlarına göre, duygusal emeğin alt boyutu olan derin duygusal emeğin öğrencilerin ilgili gün anlatılan dersteki başarısı ile pozitif yönde anlamlı ilişki gösterdiği bulunmuştur. Yüzeysel duygusal emek ise öğrenci başarısı ile anlamlı bir ilişki göstermemiştir. Dolayısıyla özel okul yöneticilerinin ve idarecilerinin öğretmenlerin duygusal emeğini pozitif etkileyecek biçimde çalışmalar yapması, işletmenin geleceği için önem arz etmektedir.

In all professions where people interact, emotions of individuals are important for the effectiveness of the communication. Employees in business life should be able to manage their emotions while interacting with customers. The emergence of the problem of emotion management has brought the concept of emotional labor to the literature and has been tested by many researchers in various fields of the service sector. Education has an important place in the service sector, which is the one with the most human interaction. Teachers' emotional states may affect students through their interaction with students. When we take into account private schools as a business, the success of students will increase the profitability of private schools. In our study, the relationship between private school teachers’ emotional labor and in a longitudinal method, a questionnaire was applied to 35 participants for 5 consequtive days. Teachers’ daily emotional labor was taken in to analysis with the success results of the students from the class given that day. Student success was an objective score measured through the common test designed for the topics given in that day. 172 data, collected from teachers, were kept in the analysis. The hypothesis of the study were tested though factor analysis, reliability analysis and correlation analysis by utilitizing SPSS analysis program. Results of the analysis demostrated that deep emotional labor, which is the sub-dimension of emotional labor, is positively and significantly coreelated with the success of students on the class that is given on that day. Surface acting emotional labor dimension showed no significant correlation with student success. Therefore, it is important for the future of the enterprise that private school administrators and administrators work in a way that positively affects the emotional labor of teachers.
