Bertrandon de la Broquıère seyahatnamesinde Osmanlı ülkesi, 'Türkomanya' ve Türkler: Burgonya haçlı zihniyeti perspektifinden bir ülke etüdü

Abstract

Bu tezde, XV. yüzyılın ilk yarısında, bağımsız bir krallık kurma amacıyla haçlı seferi planlayan Burgonya Düklerinden İyi Filip'in (saltanatı 1419-1467) emriyle Doğu Akdeniz, Anadolu ve Osmanlı Rumeli'sine bir keşif gezisine çıkan saray görevlisi Bertandon de la Broquière'in Denizaşırı Seyahatnamesi (Le Voyage d'Outremer), dönemin seyahatname yazıcılığı ve Burgonya haçlı zihniyeti perspektifinden incelenmiştir. Seyyahın üzerine aldığı, önce Hristiyan hacı kisvesiyle, sonra da Müslüman kisvesiyle sürdüreceği gizli misyon, efendisi liderliğinde bir haçlı seferi imkânının araştırılması gayesiyle, büyüyen düşmanın gücünü tartmak, yoklamak ve tetkik etme görevidir. La Broquière'in seyahatnamesi Balkanlara doğru genişleyen Türkler karşısında Avrupalı siyasi karar mercileri için adeta bir uyarı, bir 'göz açma', bir casusluk metni olarak değerlendirmek mümkündür. Anlatı boyunca yazarın, yoğun bir 'dokümante etme' dürtüsü ile her daim tetikte olan, somut ve kıymetli gerçekler için hevesli, muhtemel bir haçlı seferi ve lojistiği için gerekli hiçbir şeyi göz ardı etmeyip, küçümsemeyen sıra dışı bir gözlem tutkusuna tanıklık edilmektedir. Erken dönem Osmanlı tarihine ışık tutan ve edebi yönüyle söylem analizine davetiye çıkaran bu seyahatname, kanaatimizce son dönemde üzerine gösterilen tüm ilgi ve araştırmalara rağmen henüz hakkıyla incelenmemiştir. Tezimizde bu seyahatname bağlamında Burgonya haçlı siyasetinin izleri sürülmeye çalışılmış, gerek Bertrandon'un gerekse de Denizaşırı Seyahatinin bu siyaset içindeki konumu ve casusluk metni olma niteliği irdelenmiştir. Ayrıca seyyahın yolculuğu sırasında Türkmenlerin yaşadığı coğrafyaya ilişkin tasvirlerinden yola çıkılarak bir söylem analizi geliştirilmeye çalışılmıştır.In this thesis, The Voyage to the Levant (Le Voyage d'Outremer) travelogue of Bertandon de la Broquière, a court official who embarked on an expedition to the Eastern Mediterranean, Anatolia and Ottoman Rumelia in the first half of the XVth century on the orders of Philip the Good, who was planning a crusade to secure an independent kingdom for his own in Burgundy, is analyzed from the perspective of the travel writing and the Burgundian crusader mentality of the period. The secret mission that the traveler assumed, first in the guise of a Christian pilgrim and later in the guise of a Muslim, was to weigh, probe and examine the strength of the growing enemy with a view to explore the possibility of a crusade led by his master. La Broquière's narrative can be considered as a wake-up call, an 'eye-opening' espionage text for the European policy-making echelons in the face of the Turkish advance into the Balkans. Throughout the narrative, one witnesses the author's extraordinary passion for observation, always on the alert with an intense urge to 'document', eager for concrete and valuable facts, and never ignoring or underestimating anything necessary for a possible crusade and its logistics. In our opinion, this travelogue, which sheds light on early Ottoman history and invites discourse analysis with its literary aspect, has not yet been sufficiently analyzed despite all the recent interest and research on it. In our thesis, we have tried to trace the Burgundian crusader politics within the context of this travelogue, and examined the position of both Bertrandon and his Overseas Voyage within this politics and its nature as an espionage text. In addition, a discourse analysis was attempted to be developed based on the travelers' descriptions of the geography inhabited by Turkmens during his journey.
