Abstract

2020 yılının ilk yarıyılına damgasını vuran küresel salgının (pandemi) sadece tıp ve sağlıkçılar açısından değil, sosyal bilimciler açısından incelenmeye değer boyutları olduğu bir gerçektir. Bu makale, beden sosyolojisi açısından küresel salgının gündelik hayat ve bedene etkilerini ve bu süreçte otorite ile olan ilişkilerimizin yapısını analiz etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Araştırmanın verileri online anket tekniği ile toplanmış ve ankete toplam 720 kişi katılmıştır. 18-35 yaş aralığındaki gençlerin yüksek düzeyde temsil edildiği bu araştırmada, Covid-19 çerçevesinde alınan önlemler ve yasakların devreye girmesiyle, eve kapanan katılımcıların özbakımlarını ihmal ettikleri, bedenlerini pasif kılan etkinlikler yaptıkları ve yasaklara uyarak otoriteyle uyumlu bir hayat yaşadıkları gözlenmektedir. Sosyolojik açıdan pandemi insanları kamusal hayattan koparmakla kalmamış, onların sosyal medya aracılığıyla soyut bir dünya yaratmalarına ve orada aktif olmalarına yol açmıştır. Bununla birlikte bu soyut dünya, bedensel performansın düşmesini ve özbakımın ihmal edilmesini beraberinde getirmiştir. Bu veriler dikkate alındığında, uzun sürmesi halinde pandeminin beden ve özbakım açısından önemli sonuçlar doğurması beklenebilir.

It is a fact that the global epidemic (pandemic), which marked the first half of 2020, has dimensions that are worth examining not only for medical and healthcare professionals but also for social scientists. This article aims to analyze the effects of global epidemic on daily life and body in terms of body sociology and the structure of our relations with authority in this process. The data of the research were collected by online survey technique and 720 people participated in the survey. In this study, in which young people between the ages of 18-35 are represented at a high level, it is observed that with the introduction of measures and prohibitions taken within the framework of Covid-19, participants who closed the house neglected their self-care, carried out activities that made their bodies passive and lived a life in harmony with the authority by obeying the prohibitions. From a sociological point of view, pandemic not only took people out of public life but also caused them to create an abstract world and be active there through social media. However, this abstract world brought about a decrease in physical performance and neglect of self-care. Considering these data, it can be expected that the pandemic will have important consequences in terms of body and self care if it takes a long time.
