Matematik Kaygısı ve Veli Beklentisinin Öğrencilerin Matematik Başarısına Etkisi

Abstract

Araştırma, 4. ve 5. sınıf öğrencilerinin matematik kaygısı ve veli beklentisinin matematik başarısına etkisinin incelenmesini amaçlamaktadır. Çalışma kapsamında öğrencilerin cinsiyet, sınıf düzeyi, anne ve baba eğitim durumu ve sosyoekonomik durumu da incelenmiştir. Araştırma nicel araştırma modellerinden ilişkisel tarama yöntemi kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın evrenini Küçükçekmece İlçe Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğüne bağlı devlet ilkokul ve ortaokullarında öğrenim gören 305 öğrenci oluşturmuş olup veriler kolay ulaşılabilir örneklem yöntemi ile toplanmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri demografik bilgiler formu, matematik başarı testi, matematik kaygı ölçeği ve matematik eğitimi veli beklenti ölçeği formları kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Toplanan veriler istatistik analiz yöntemi kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Veriler normallik testi, korelasyon ve regresyon testleri kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda 4. ve 5. sınıf öğrencilerinin matematik başarısının baba eğitim, matematik kaygısı, anne eğitim ve sınıf düzeyi faktörlerinin etkilediği görülmüştür. Baba eğitim, matematik kaygısı, anne eğitim ve sınıf düzeyi matematik başarısının toplam varyansının %28’ini açıkladığı görülmektedir.

The study aims to examine the effect of mathematics anxiety and parental expectations on mathematics achievement of 4th and 5th grade students. Within the scope of the study, gender, grade level, parental education level and socioeconomic status of the students were also examined. The study was conducted using the relational survey method, one of the quantitative research models. The population of the study consisted of 305 students studying in state primary and secondary schools affiliated to Küçükçekmece District Directorate of National Education and the data were collected by convenience sampling method. The data were collected using demographic information form, mathematics achievement test, mathematics anxiety scale and mathematics education parent expectation scale. The collected data were analyzed using statistical analysis method. Data were analyzed using normality test, correlation and Regresyon tests. As a result of the study, it was seen that the mathematics achievement of 4th and 5th grade students was affected by the factors of father education, mathematics anxiety, mother education and grade level. It was seen that father education, math anxiety, mother education and grade level explained 28% of the toplam variance of math achievement.
