Ortaöğretim öğrencilerinin matematiksel problem çözmeye yönelik inançları ile yansıtıcı düşünme becerileri arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesi

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı ortaöğretim öğrencilerinin matematiksel problem çözmeye yönelik inançları ile yansıtıcı düşünme becerileri arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesidir. Bu araştırmada nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden ilişkisel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemi 2023-2024 öğretim yılında İstanbul ilinde bulunan resmi liselerde öğrenim gören öğrencilerinden seçilen toplam 282 öğrenci oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplamak amacıyla öğrencilerin kişisel bilgilerini belirlemek için araştırmacı tarafından oluşturulan Demografik Bilgi Formu, Kloosterman ve Stage (1992) tarafından oluşturulan ve Hacıömeroğlu (2011) tarafından Türkçeye uyarlanan "Matematiksel Problem Çözmeye Yönelik İnanç Ölçeği" ve Kızılkaya ve Aşkar (2009) tarafından geliştirilen "Problem Çözmeye Yönelik Yansıtıcı Düşünme Becerisi Ölçeği" kullanılmıştır.Araştırmadan elde edilen verilerin analizinde betimsel istatistik, Tek Yönlü Varyans Analizi (ANOVA) testi, bağımsız gruplar t testi, regresyon analizi, Pearson Momentler Korelasyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Analizler sonucunda ortaöğretim öğrencilerinin matematiksel problem çözme inançlarının ve problem çözmeye yönelik yansıtıcı düşünme becerilerinin orta düzeyde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ortaöğretim öğrencilerinin matematiksel problem çözmeye yönelik inançları ile problem çözmeye yönelik yansıtıcı düşünmeleri arasında olumlu, anlamlı ve orta düzeyde bir ilişki olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Matematiksel problem çözmeye yönelik inanç ölçeğinin, problem çözmeye yönelik yansıtıcı düşünme becerileri ölçeğini pozitif yönde etkilediği ve problem çözmeye yönelik yansıtıcı düşünme becerisi ölçeğindeki toplam varyansın %30'unu açıkladığı görülmüştür.Elde edilen sonuçlara göre, öğrencilerin matematiksel problem çözmeye yönelik inançları arttıkça, problem çözmeye yönelik yansıtıcı düşünme becerilerinin de arttığı sonucuna varılmıştır. Ayrıca, öğrencilerin inançlarının tutum ve algılarından etkilendiği göz önünde bulundurulduğunda, algı, tutum ve inançların problem çözme becerileri ile pozitif bir ilişkisi olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between high school students' beliefs about mathematical problem solving and their reflective thinking skills.In this study, the relational survey model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used. The sample of the study consists of a total of 282 students selected from public high schools in Istanbul in the 2023-2024 academic year. The Demographic Information Form created by the researcher to determine the personal information of the students, the "Belief Scale for Mathematical Problem Solving" created by Kloosterman and Stage (1992) and adapted into Turkish by Hacıömeroğlu (2011), and the "Reflective Thinking Skill Scale for Problem Solving" developed by Kızılkaya and Aşkar (2009) were used to collect data in the study.The quantitative data obtained with the data collection tools were analyzed by transferring them to the package program. Descriptive statistics, One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) test, independent groups t test, regression analysis, Pearson Moment Correlation analysis were used to analyze the data obtained from the research. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that high school students' mathematical problem solving beliefs and reflective thinking skills towards problem solving were at a moderate level. It was concluded that there was a positive, significant and moderate relationship between middle school students' beliefs about mathematical problem solving and their reflective thinking towards problem solving. In addition, it was found that the total scores obtained from the belief scale for mathematical problem solving significantly predicted the total scores obtained from the reflective thinking scale for problem solving. It was seen that the beliefs about mathematical problem solving scale positively affected the reflective thinking skills for problem solving scale and explained 30% of the total variance in the reflective thinking skills for problem solving scale. Based on the results obtained, it was concluded that the higher the students' beliefs towards mathematical problem solving, the higher their reflective thinking skills towards problem solving. In addition, considering that students' beliefs are affected by their attitudes and perceptions, it was concluded that perceptions, attitudes and beliefs have a positive relationship with problem solving skills.
