Öğretmenlerin öğretmenlik mesleğine ilişkin tutumları ile iş yaşam dengesi ve motivasyonları arasındaki ilişki

Abstract

Çalışmanın amacı öğretmenlerin mesleğine ilişkin tutumları ile iş yaşam dengesi ve motivasyonları arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesidir. Bu araştırmada nicel araştırma modellerinden korelasyonel (ilişkisel) araştırma modeli kullanılmıştır. Bu araştırmanın evrenini 2019-2020 öğretim yılında İstanbul İli Sultangazi İlçe Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğüne bağlı resmi ilkokul, ortaokul ve liselerde görev yapan toplam 2177 öğretmen oluşturmaktadır. Sultangazi ilçesinin büyüklüğü ve 2177 öğretmene ulaşmanın ekonomik zorluğu ile zaman güçlüğü nedeniyle, araştırmada örneklem alınmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini 545 öğretmen oluşturmuştur. Araştırmada veriler, Demirel ve Ünişen (2018: 997-1013) tarafından geliştirilen "Öğretmenlik Mesleğine İlişkin Tutum Ölçeği", Taşdelen-Karçkay ve Bakalım (2017: 3-13) tarafından geliştirilen "İş Yaşam Dengesi Ölçeği" ve Akdemir ve Arslan (2013:860-864) tarafından geliştirilen "Öğretmen Motivasyon Ölçeği" ile toplanmıştır. Öğretmenlik Mesleğine İlişkin Tutum, İş Yaşam Dengesi ve Motivasyon ölçekleriyle elde edilecek verilerin çözümlenmesinde istatistiksel yöntemleri ortaya koyabilmek için ölçeklerin ve onların alt boyutlarının normallik yayılımları incelenmiştir. Araştırma kümesinde yer alan öğretmenlerin demografik özelliklerini frekans ve yüzde dağılımları çıkarılacak, daha sonra da ölçeklerin standart sapma ile aritmetik ortalama puanları hesaplanmıştır. Okullardaki öğretmenlerin, mesleklerine ilişkin tutumları, iş yaşam dengeleri ve öğretmenlerin motivasyonlarının algıları düzeyleri analiz edilmiştir. Daha sonra ölçeklere ilişkin görüşlerin cinsiyete göre değişimini belirlemek amacıyla bağımsız örneklem t testi analiz kullanılmıştır. Yaş, mesleki kıdem, öğrenim durumu ve eğitim kademesi değişkenlerine göre algıları arasındaki farklılığı belirlemek amacıyla ilişkisiz örneklemler için tek faktörlü varyans analizi kullanılmıştır. Tek yönlü varyans analizi sonucunda gruplar arasında anlamlı bir farklılık bulunduğunda, farkların kaynağını (hangi gruplar arasında olduğunu) belirlemek üzere posthoc çoklu karşılaştırma teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucuna göre öğretmenlerin öğretmenlik mesleğine ilişkin tutumları, iş yaşam dengesi algıları, motivasyon algılarının yüksek düzeyde olduğu tespit edilmiş ve öğretmenlerin öğretmenlik mesleğine ilişkin tutumları (tüm boyutlarda) ile iş yaşam dengesi algıları ve motivasyon algıları (tüm boyutlarda) arasında pozitif yönde orta düzeyde bir ilişki olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Yine öğretmenlerin öğretmenlik mesleğine ilişkin tutumları ve iş yaşam dengesi algılarının motivasyon algılarının toplam varyansının yaklaşık %9,4'ünü açıkladığı görülmüştür. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre öğretmenlerin öğretmenlik mesleğine ilişkin tutumlarının cinsiyet, yaş ve mesleki kıdem değişkenine göre anlamlı farklılaşma olurken, öğretmenlerin iş yaşam dengesi algılarında cinsiyet, yaş ve okul türü değişkenine göre anlamlı farklılaşma oluşmuştur. Yine öğretmenlerin motivasyonlarının cinsiyet, yaş ve mesleki kıdem değişkenine göre anlamlı farklılaşma olduğu gözlemlenmiştir.

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between teachers' attitudes towards teaching profession and their work-life balance and motivations. Correlational (relational) research model, which is one of the quantitative research models, was used in this study. The universe of this research consists of 2177 teachers who have been working in official primary, secondary and high schools which are affiliated to Sultangazi District National Education Directorate of Istanbul Province in the 2019-2020 academic year. Due to the size of Sultangazi district, economic difficulty of reaching 2177 teachers along with the time difficulty, the sample was taken in the research. The sample of the study has consisted of 545 teachers. The data in the research were acquired through the "Attitude Scale Regarding the Teaching Profession" developed by Demirel and Ünişen (2018: 997-1013), the "Work Life Balance Scale" developed by Taşdelen-Karçkay and Bakalım (2017: 3-13) and the "Teacher Motivation Scale" developed by Akdemir and Arslan (2013: 860-864). In order to determine the statistical methods to be used in the analysis of the data to be obtained from the Attitude Towards Teaching Profession, Work Life Balance and Motivation scales, the normality distributions of the scales and their sub-dimensions were examined. The demographic features of the teachers in the study group were calculated by subtracting frequency and percentage distributions, and then the arithmetic mean and standard deviation scores of the scales were calculated. The attitudes of teachers in their professions, work-life balances and perceptions of teachers' motivations were analyzed. Then, independent sample t-test analysis was used to determine the change of views related to the scales by gender. One-factor analysis of variance (Anova) was used for unrelated samples to determine the difference between perceptions according to age, professional seniority, education level and education level variables. When there is a significant difference between groups as a result of one-way analysis of variance, posthoc multiple comparison techniques were used to determine the source of the differences (among which groups). According to the results of the research, it has been concluded that teachers 'attitudes towards teaching profession, work life balance perceptions, motivation perceptions are high and there is a moderate positive relationship between teachers' attitudes towards teaching profession (in all dimensions) and their perceptions of work life balance and motivation perceptions (in all dimensions). Additionally, it is seen that teachers' attitudes towards teaching profession and perceptions of work-life balance explained approximately 9.4% of the total variance of motivation perceptions. According to the results of the research, there was a significant difference in the attitudes of teachers about the teaching profession according to gender, age and professional seniority whereas there were substantial differences in teachers' perceptions of work life balance in terms of gender, age and school type. What's more, it was observed that the motivation perceptions of teachers differ significantly according to gender, age and professional seniority.
