İstanbul'un tarihi su yollarının Kent turizmi açısından potansiyeli

Abstract

Bu çalışma, İstanbul'un tarihî su yollarının sahip olduğu önemi ve kent turizmi açısından büyük potansiyelini ortaya çıkartmak ve farkındalık yaratmak amacıyla hazırlanmıştır. Bu doğrultuda İstanbul'un tarih boyunca su ile ilişkisi incelenmiş, İstanbul'da tarih boyunca hüküm sürmüş tüm imparatorluklar döneminde inşa edilmiş olan su yolları anlatılmış ve onların bugün hâlen ayakta olan eserlerine detaylı olarak yer verilmiştir. İstanbul, bugün hâlen ayakta olan dönemin barajları niteliğindeki bentler, abide kemerler, galeriler ve bazıları ince nakış gibi süslenmiş çeşmeleri ile bugün dünyada ismi "su medeniyeti" olarak Roma ile birlikte ikinci kenttir. Çalışma kapsamında dünyada bu tarihî su eserlerinin turizme kazandırılmasına ilişkin başarılı örnekler anlatılmış, İstanbul'da yapılması gerekenler öneri olarak sunulmuştur. Bu çalışma yapılırken daha önce bu konuda T.C. Kültür ve Turizm Sinema Genel Müdürlüğü'nün desteğiyle hazırlamış olduğum Mağlova Belgesel Filmi ve Kırkçeşme Su Yolu Sistemi'nin hazırlıkları ve o belgesele destek veren kıymetli akademisyenlerin katkıları da yol gösterici olmuştur. Doğru ve akılcı bir planla gerekli girişimler yapıldığında İstanbul için gerek turizm gerek ekonomi ve gerekse sosyal açıdan büyük kazanımlar oluşturacağına inandığın bu konunun ülkemiz ve şehrimiz için rehber doküman olması umut edilmektedir.

This study aims to reveal importance of İstanbul's historical waterways and its great potential in terms of urban tourism and to raise awareness. In this regard, relation of İstanbul with water has been examined throughout the history and the waterways built under the reigns of all empires in İstanbul have been described and their living works have been included in detail. With its still standing weirs accepted as dams of that time, monumental aqueducts, water tunnels, and fountains as though some of which were decorated with fine embroidery, İstanbul is the second city together with Rome considered as "water civilization" around the world. Within the scope of the study, successful examples concerning the introduction of these historical water works to tourism have been shown and things need to be done in İstanbul have been presented as suggestions. During the study, preparations for the Mağlova Documentary Film and Kırkçeşme Waterway System that I previously made with the support of Republic of Turkey Directorate General of Culture and Cinema, and contributions of the esteemed academicians who supported the documentary have also guided. When necessary initiatives are taken for İstanbul with a correct and rational plan, it is hoped that this subject that I believe to constitute great achievements in either tourism and economy or social terms will be a guide document for our country and city.
