15. ve 16. yüzyıllarda Osmanlı tıp eserlerinde cüzzam hastalığı

Abstract

Dünyanın çeşitli bölgelerinde salgın hastalıklar baş göstermiş ve toplumların bu hastalıklara karşı mücadeleleri ise tıp tarihinin seyri açısından farklı gelişmeleri beraberinde getirmiştir. Bulaşıcı hastalıkların viran ettiği topraklarda insanlar, sağlıksız yaşamın yanı sıra toplumsal alanda tecrite de maruz kalmışlardır. Bir salgın hastalık olan cüzzam, korku verici bir hastalık olarak da tanımlanarak kara listede yerini alsa da Türk tıp tarihi açısından önem arz eden, geçmişte Osmanlı Devleti'ni etkileyerek kendisine has kurumlar oluşturan ve mütenevvi şekilde tedavi yöntemleri geliştirilen bir hastalık olmuştur. Bu hastalığın Osmanlılar üzerinde izlerini sürmek üzere çalışmamızın ana konusu olan 15. ve 16. yüzyıllarda Osmanlı tıp eserlerinde cüzzam hastalığını incelemeyi uygun gördük. Çalışmada bahsi geçen eserler dönemin tıp kaynakları arasında öne çıkanlar olup, 'cüzzam hastalığı' hakkında ehemmiyet arz eden bilgiler ihtiva etmektedir. Osmanlı tıp tarihi kaynaklarında cüzzamın, Osmanlılar üzerindeki tesirini ve sürecini belirlemek açısından kayda değer verileri elde etmek üzere hazırlanan çalışmada, 15. ve 16. yüzyıllarda tıbbi bağlamda kaleme alınan Osmanlı yazmaları ışığında, cüzzam hastalığının ve cüzzamlının durumunu ortaya koyarak, cüzzamın tarihsel konumu bir temele oturtulmaya çalışılmış, Osmanlı kurumlarının ve Osmanlı hekimlerinin gelişimiyle hastalığa karşı mücadele yöntemleri incelenmiştir. Cüzzam merak uyandıran süje olduğu için birçok esere, filmlere, belgesellere konu olmuştur. Bu bağlamda Ortaçağ İslam dünyasından, Ortaçağ Avrupası'na ve Osmanlılara kadar uzanan cüzzamın, tarihsel araştırmasını yaparken, araştırmanın asıl konusu olan klasik dönem Osmanlı tıp yazmalarında cüzzam hastalığın tanımını ve tedavilerini ortaya koymanın önem arz ettiğini belirtmek mümkündür.

Epidemics have been seen in various parts of the world from past to present, and thanks to the struggle of societies against these diseases, different developments have been experienced in terms of medical history. Throughout history, infectious diseases have condemned people to death, an unhealthy life and generally isolation in the social sphere. Although leprosy, an epidemic disease, took its place on the blacklist as a fearful disease, it caused the Ottoman Empire to engage in positive activities in terms of Turkish Medical History. To investigate the traces of this disease on the Ottomans, I determined the main subject of my study as "Leprosy Disease in Ottoman Medical Works in the 15th and 16th Centuries". The works mentioned in this study; They are the most important medical works of the Ottoman period and are the main sources in terms of 'leprosy disease'. In this study, which was prepared to investigate the effect of leprosy on the Ottomans, based on the Ottoman medical history works, 15th and 16th in the light of the Ottoman manuscripts written in the medical sense in the centuries, it aims to determine what kind of treatment was applied to the patients suffering from this disease, to determine what kind of drugs were prepared and to reveal the point of view of the doctors of this period. Leprosy is an intriguing subject, so it has come to the fore as an important phenomenon whose treatment has been sought by many societies from past to present. In this context, it is possible to state that it is important to reveal the definition and treatments of leprosy in the Classical Period Ottoman Medical Manuscripts, which is the main subject of the research, while conducting historical research on leprosy in the historical process extending from the Medieval Islamic world to the Medieval Europe and the Ottomans.
