Abstract

13 Şubat 1925 günü Türkiye’nin doğusunda başlayan Şeyh Sait isyanı, kısa sürede bölgeye yayılarak, ülke siyasetini derinden etkilemiş ve önemli sonuçlar doğurmuştur. Musul meselesinin çözülmeye çalışıldığı zaman diliminde ortaya çıkan isyan, Türk siyaset hayatını olabildiğince olumsuz etkilemiş, Türkler ile Kürtleri karşı karşıya getirerek, gereksiz yere Müslüman kanının dökülmesine neden olmuştur. İsyanın asıl amacı dini olmakla beraber, kısmen de milliyetçi sebeplerden dolayı zuhur etmiş, kurulalı üzerinden henüz iki yıl geçen Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin rejimine karşı gerçekleştirilmiştir. Doğu Anadolu’da bağımsız bir Kürt devleti kurmak ve lağvedilen Halifelik makamını yeniden tesis etmek amacıyla, hükümet otoritesine karşı bir tepki olarak başlamıştır.
