Tefekkür Etme Eğilimi ile Akademik Başarı Arasındaki İlişki

Abstract

Bu araştırmadaki amaç üniversite öğrencilerinin tefekkür etme eğilimi ile akademik başarısı arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektedir. Araştırmanın yöntemi nicel bir yöntem olan ilişkisel tarama modelidir. Araştırmanın evrenini bir vakıf üniversitesinde öğrenim gören 10615 üniversite öğrencisi teşkil etmektedir. Bütün öğrencilerin araştırmaya dahil edilmesinin zorluğu göz önünde bulundurulduğunda araştırma örneklemi 371 öğrenci olarak amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmaya ilgili vakıf üniversitesinde öğrenim gören 383 üniversite öğrencisi katılım sağlamıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen verileri toplamak amacıyla “Tefekkür Etme Eğilimi Ölçeği” ve “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” kullanılmıştır. Katılımcılardan toplanan veriler IBM SPSS 22 paket programı aracılığıyla analize tabi tutulmuştur. Katılımcıların tefekkür etme eğilimi puanları ve AGNO düzeylerine yönelik yapılan basıklık ve çarpıklık değerlerinin bilimsel olarak normal kabul edilen değerler arasında olduğu görülmüştür. Tefekkür etme eğilimi ölçeği beşli likert tipi, 6 madde ve 2 alt boyuttan oluşan geçerli ve güvenili bir ölçektir. Araştırmacılar tarafından oluşturulan kişisel bilgi formunda ise katılımcıların cinsiyet, bursluluk durumu, fakülte, sınıf ve ağırlıklı genel not ortalaması (AGNO) bilgilerini elde etmeye yönelik sorular yer almaktadır. Araştırmadaki katılımcıların tefekkür etme eğilimi akademik başarı düzeyini saptamak amacıyla frekans analizi; tefekkür etme eğilimi ve akademik başarı düzeyinin cinsiyet değişkenine göre karşılaştırılması amacıyla t testi; bursluluk durumu ve sınıf düzeyi değişkenlerine göre karşılaştırılması amacıyla tek yönlü varyans analizi (ANOVA); fakülte değişkenine göre karşılaştırılması amacıyla Kruskal-Wallis H testi; tefekkür etme eğilimi ile akademik başarı düzeyi arasındaki ilişkiyi bulmak amacıyla Pearson korelasyon analizi yapılmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında yapılan analizler sonucunda üniversite öğrencilerinin tefekkür etme eğilimi ile akademik başarısı arasında anlamlı bir ilişki tespit edilmemiştir. Araştırmada elde edilen bulgular neticesinde tartışma gerçekleştirilmiş, eğitim ve psikoloji alanlarındaki araştırmacı ve uygulayıcılara yönelik önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

This study aims to examine the relationship between university students' contemplation tendency and academic success. The research method used is the correlational model, which is a quantitative method. The research population consists of 10615 university students studying at a foundation university.Considering the difficulty of including all students in the study, the research sample was aimed at 371 students. Three hundred eighty-three university students enrolled at the foundation university participated in the study. “Contemplation Tendency Scale” and ‘Personal Information Form’ were used to collect the data obtained from the research. The data collected from the participants were analyzed through the IBM SPSS 22 package program. It was seen that the kurtosis and skewness values of the participants' contemplation tendency scores and GPA levels were between the scientifically accepted normal values. The contemplation tendency scale is valid and reliable, consisting of 6 items and two sub dimensions, a five-point Likert type. In the personal information form created by the researchers, there are questions to obtain the participants' gender, scholarship status, faculty, grade, and weighted grade point average (GPA). Frequency analysis was used to determine the participants' contemplation tendency and academic success level; t-test was used to compare the contemplation tendency and academic success level according to gender variable; one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to compare the contemplation tendency and academic success level according to scholarship status and class level variables; Kruskal-Wallis H test was used to compare the contemplation tendency according to faculty variable; Pearson correlation analysis was used to find the relationship between the contemplation tendency and academic success level. As a result of the analyses conducted within the scope of the research, no significant relationship was found between university students' contemplation tendency and their academic success. As a result of the findings obtained in the study, a discussion was held, and suggestions were made for researchers and practitioners in education and psychology.
