Analysis of conscientious intelligence levels of students studying at the faculty of health sciences of a foundation university

Abstract

Health professions are among the professional groups that need to coexist with many features suchas empathy, moral behavior, honesty, fair behavior, tolerant behavior, patience, respect, being helpful andconscientious.The aim of this study is to reveal the levels of conscientious intelligence in the students of theFaculty of Health Sciences, who are candidates for working in healthcare professions.In this study, descriptiveresearch model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used. In our study, the study group of theresearch consists of a total of 214 students, 62 of whom are male and 152 of which are women, aged between18 and 29, selected by the method of easy access sampling, selected from students studying at a University ofVakıf University, Faculty of Health Sciences in Istanbul. In our study, “Personal Information Form” and“Conscientious Intelligence Scale (VZÖ)” were used as data collection tools. In our study, SPSS (StatisticalPackage for Social Sciences) for Windows 24 program was used to analyze the data. In our study, parametrictest statistics were used to compare the data. When comparing the scores obtained from the scale, independentt test statistics are used according to gender and age variable, while the department, education, class, ethnicity,religious Cronbach Alpha coefficient, 78.80 for the total dimensions of the survey, factor loads for the 7 subdimensions of the survey 71.50 - Calculated between 80.70. In our study, the total ethical value score of theparticipants was 19.53, the total score of moral value was 22.34, the total score of responsibility towards thecreator was 16.37, the total score of mercy was 22.50, the total awareness of conscious awareness was 20.34,the total sensitivity of social awareness was 16.88, the total wisdom score was 16.31 and the total score ofconscientious intelligence was 124.91. In our study, social sensitivity (p <0.05) and responsibility towardscreator (p <0.05) total scores of the conscientious intelligence sub-dimensions of the participants were foundto be statistically significant according to gender. A statistically significant difference was found between thetotal scores of conscientious intelligence and the departments of the participants (p <0.05). Consciousawareness and wisdom total scores, which are among the sub-factors of conscientious intelligence, were foundstatistically significant between groups and groups according to the department variable in which they studied(p <0.001). Ethical value total scores (p <0.05), moral sensitivity total scores (p <0.001), creative responsibility total scores (p <0.05), compassion total scores (p <0.001), social sensitivity total scores (p <0.05). Accordingto the department variable in which they studied, the difference between groups and within groups was foundstatistically significant. As a result, it is aimed to use materials that support the features of conscientiousintelligence in the trainings to be given to students studying in the faculty of health sciences.

Sağlık meslekleri empati, ahlaki davranış, dürüstlük, adil davranış, hoşgörülü davranış, sabır, saygı, yardımsever ve vicdanlı olmak gibi birçok özelliğin bir arada bulunması gereken profesyonel meslekler arasındadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, sağlık mesleklerinde çalışmaya aday olan Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi öğrencilerinin vicdani zekâ düzeylerini ortaya koymaktır. Bu çalışmada nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden betimsel araştırma modeli kullanılmıştır. Çalışmamızda çalışma grubu olarak İstanbul’daki bir Vakıf Üniversitesi, Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesinde öğrenim görmekte olan 62'si erkek, 152'si kadın olan ve 18 ve 29 yaşları arasında, kolay erişimli örnekleme yöntemi ile seçilen, toplam 214 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Çalışmamızda veri toplama aracı olarak “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” ve “Vicdani Zekâ Ölçeği (VZÖ)” kullanılmıştır. Çalışmamızda verileri analiz etmek için SPSS (Sosyal Bilimler için İstatistiksel Paket) Windows 24 programı kullanılmıştır. Çalışmamızda verileri karşılaştırmak için parametrik test istatistikleri kullanıldı. Ölçekten elde edilen puanlar karşılaştırılırken cinsiyet ve yaş değişkenine göre bağımsız t testi istatistiği kullanılırken; bölüm, eğitim, sınıf, etnik köken, dini inanış etkisine bakıldı. Cronbach Alfa katsayısı, anketin toplam boyutları için 78,80, Anketin 7 alt boyutu 71,50- 80,70 arasında hesaplanmıştır. Çalışmamızda, katılımcıların toplam etik değer puanı 19,53, ahlaki değerin toplam puanı 22,34, yaratıcıya karşı toplam sorumluluk puanı 16,37, toplam merhamet puanı 22,50, toplam bilinç farkındalığı farkındalık 20,34, sosyal farkındalığın toplam duyarlılığı 16,88, toplam bilgelik puanı 16,31 ve vicdani zekâ toplam puanı 124,91'dir. Çalışmamızda katılımcıların vicdani zekâ alt boyutlarının sosyal duyarlılık (p <0,05) ve yaratıcıya karşı sorumluluk (p <0,05) toplam puanları cinsiyete göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunmuştur. Vicdanî istihbaratın toplam puanları ile katılımcıların bölümleri arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur (p <0,001). Vicdanlı zekânın alt faktörleri arasında yer alan bilinçli farkındalık ve bilgelik toplam puanları, çalıştıkları bölüm değişkenine göre gruplar ve gruplar arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunmuştur (p <0,001). Etik değer toplam puanları (p <0,05), ahlaki duyarlılık toplam puanları (p <0,001), yaratıcı sorumluluk toplam puanları (p <0,05), merhamet toplam puanları (p <0,001), sosyal duyarlılık toplam skorları (p <0,05). Çalıştıkları bölüm değişkenine göre, gruplar ve gruplar arasındaki fark istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunmuştur. Sonuç olarak,sağlık bilimleri fakültesinde öğrenim gören öğrencilere verilecek eğitimlerde vicdani zekânın özelliklerini destekleyen materyallerin kullanılması önerilmektedir.
