Çocuk hastanelerinde terapötik mekanlar

Abstract

Genellikle hastane deneyimi; tanıdık bir ortamın olmaması, muayene ve ameliyat korkusu, ağrı, sosyal ve günlük hayatın kısıtlanması nedeniyle olumsuz düşünce ve duygularla ilişkilendirilmektedir. Çocukların hastaneye yatırılması söz konusu olduğunda güvensizlik, korku ve stres duyguları daha güçlü ve karmaşık olmaktadır. Son yıllarda hızla artan araştırmalar, hastane ortamlarında stres kaynaklarını azaltarak ve olumlu uyaranları artırarak hastaların psikolojik ihtiyaçlarını karşılayan terapötik mekanlar oluşturmanın önemini vurgulamaktadır. Ancak çocuk hastaneleri ile ilişkilendirilen araştırmaların sayısı sınırlıdır. Bu tez çalışmasında, son on beş yılda yapılmış olan çocuk hastaneleri örnekleri terapötik mekan ilkeleri bağlamında araştırılmıştır. Çalışmada, öncelikle çocuk, mekan, çocuk hastanesi kavramları ve hastanede çocukların yaşamlarını psikolojik olarak etkileyen etkenlere yönelik literatür taraması yapılarak kavramsal bir alt yapı oluşturulmuştur. Ardından terapötik mekan tanımlarına ve tarihçesine değinilmiş ve çalışmanın ana strüktürünü oluşturan, sekiz maddeden oluşan terapötik mekan ilkeleri açıklanmıştır. Daha sonra seçilen dokuz çocuk hastanesi örneği sekiz maddeden oluşan terapötik mekan ilkeleri kapsamında incelenerek, tablolar aracılığıyla teorik bilginin uygulamaya ne kadar aktarıldığı değerlendirilmiştir. Sonuçta elde edilen bulgular ışığında terapötik mekan ilkelerinin hangilerinin çocuk hastanelerinin tasarımında daha etkin olması gerektiği sorgulanmıştır.

Often the hospital experience is associated with negative thoughts and feelings due to the lack of a familiar environment, fear of examinations and surgery, pain, restriction of social and daily life. When it comes to hospitalizing children, feelings of insecurity, fear, and stress are stronger and more complex. Rapidly increasing research in recent years emphasizes the importance of creating therapeutic spaces that meet the psychological needs of patients by reducing sources of stress and increasing positive stimuli in hospital settings. However, the number of studies associated with children's hospitals is limited. In this thesis study, examples of children's hospitals made in the last fifteen years were investigated in the context of therapeutic space principles. In the study, a conceptual infrastructure was created by conducting a literature review primarily on the concepts of children, space, children's hospital and the factors that psychologically affect the lives of children in the hospital. Then, the definitions and history of therapeutic space were mentioned and the principles of therapeutic space, which constituted the main structure of the study, consisting of eight items, were explained. Then, the nine selected children's hospital samples were examined within the scope of the therapeutic space principles consisting of eight items and the extent to which the theoretical knowledge was transferred to practice through the tables was evaluated. In the light of the findings obtained, it was questioned which of the therapeutic space principles should be more effective in the design of children's hospitals.
