Hikayeleştirme yönteminin yedinci sınıf öğrencilerinin akademik başarılarına, matematiğe yönelik motivasyonlarına ve matematik kaygılarına etkisinin incelenmesi

Abstract

Geleneksel eğitimden yapılandırmacı eğitime geçildikten sonra yapılandırmacı eğitimde birçok öğretim yöntemi kullanılmaya başlanmıştır. Öğrenciyi merkeze alan yapılandırmacı eğitimde kullanılan yöntemlerden biri de hikâyeleştirme yöntemidir. Bu çalışmada hikâyeleştirme yönteminin yedinci sınıf öğrencilerinin akademik performansına, matematiğe yönelik motivasyonlarına ve matematik kaygılarına olan etkisi araştırılmıştır. Yarı deneysel desenin kullanıldığı bu araştırmada; öğrencilerin matematikte başarıları arasındaki farkı belirleyebilmek amacıyla başarı testi, matematik kaygılarını ölçmek için; "Matematik Dersine Yönelik Matematik Kaygısı-Endişesi Ölçeği", motivasyonlarını ölçmek için; "Matematik Dersine Yönelik Motivasyon Ölçeği" uygulanmıştır. Araştırma, Batman ilinde yer alan Ziya Gökalp Ortaokulunda, 2022–2023 eğitim-öğretim yılında öğrenim gören 7. Sınıfta öğrenim gören öğrencilerden 25 kişi kolay ulaşılabilir örneklem tekniği ile seçilmiştir. Araştırmada, "Cebirsel İfadeler, Örüntüler ve Denklemler" konusu, hikâyeleştirme yöntemi ile işlenmiştir. Araştırmada elde edilen veriler; skewness, kurtosis, korelasyon ve t-testi istatistiksel yöntemlerden yararlanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular incelendiğinde; "Hikâyeleştirme yöntemi, akademik başarı üzerinde olumlu yönden etki ettiği, kaygı-endişeyi belli bir düzeye kadar düşürdüğü, öğrenci motivasyonu üzerinde olumlu etkisi tespit edilmiştir. Belli bir seviyedeki kaygının motivasyon ve başarıyı olumlu etkilediği, motivasyonun başarı üzerinde itkisinin az olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

After the transition from traditional education to constructivist education, many methods have been used in constructivist education. One of the methods used in constructivist education that puts the student in the center is the storytelling method. In this study, the effect of the storytelling method on the academic performance, motivation towards mathematics and mathematics anxiety of seventh grade students was investigated. In this study, in which quasi-experimental design was used; achievement test to determine the difference between students' success in mathematics, to measure their mathematics anxiety; "Mathematics Anxiety-Anxiety Scale for Mathematics Lesson",to measure their motivation; "Motivation Scale for Mathematics Lesson" was applied. The research was applied to 25 students studying in the 7th grade of Ziya Gökalp Secondary School in the province of Batman in the 2022-2023 academic year. In the research, the subject of " Algebraic Expressions, Patterns and Equations " was handled with the method of storytelling. The data obtained in the research; skewness , kurtosis , correlation and t- test were analyzed using statistical methods. When the findings are examined; It has been determined that the storytelling method has a positive effect on academic achievement, reduces anxiety to a certain level, and has a positive effect on student motivation. It has been determined that a certain level of anxiety has a positive effect on motivation and success, and motivation has little impact on success.
