Okul çalışanlarının ekonomik sorunlar sebebiyle okula müracaat eden ailelere ilişkin görüşlerinin değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Türkiye'de velilerin ekonomik sorunların çözümü için okullara başvurduğu bilinen bir gerçektir. Bu araştırmada ailelerin yaşadığı ekonomik problemler sebebiyle okula başvurma sebepleri ve okul yetkililerinin uyguladığı çözümleri öğrenmek amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada nitel araştırma modellerinden olgu bilim (fenomenolojik) yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu kolayda örnekleme yöntemiyle seçilmiş olup 7 okul müdürü, 11 müdür yardımcısı ve 10 rehber öğretmenden oluşmaktadır. Veriler yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme yapılarak toplanmıştır. Yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme soruları araştırmacı tarafından literatürdeki bilgiler gözeterek hazırlanmıştır. Veriler MAXQDA programından yararlanarak kodlanmış ve kategorilendirilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler dâhilinde velilerin ekonomik sorunların çözümü için okula başvurmasının bir kültür haline geldiği ve önlenemediği gözlenmiştir. Okul yetkililerinin aileleri yönlendirme konusunda yeterli eğitime sahip olmadığı sonucuna varılmıştır. Okullarda bu konuda geçici çözümler alındığı ve bu çözümlerin kapsayıcı olmadığı görülmüştür. Okullarda ekonomik sorunlarla ilgilenen bir meslek elemanı olmamasının eğitimi olumsuz etkilediği bilgisine ulaşılmıştır. Katılımcıların çoğunluğu tarafından okullarda bulunması gereken bu meslek dalı sosyal hizmet olarak belirtilmiştir.

In Turkey, it is a well-known fact that parents turn to schools for the solution of economic problems. This research aims to understand the reasons why families turn to schools due to economic problems and the solutions applied by school authorities. The study used the phenomenological method, which is one of the qualitative research models. The study group consisted of 7 school principals, 11 deputy principals, and 10 guidance counselors selected through convenience sampling. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews. The semi-structured interview questions were prepared by the researcher based on the information in the literature. The data were coded and categorized using the MAXQDA program. Based on the data obtained, it was observed that turning to school for the solution of economic problems has become a culture and cannot be prevented. It was concluded that school authorities do not have sufficient training to guide families. It was observed that temporary solutions are implemented in schools regarding this issue and these solutions are not inclusive. It was found that the absence of a professional dealing with economic problems in schools negatively affects education. The majority of participants indicated that this professional field that should be present in schools is social work.
